My great hits collection 1953 to 2007!
65This collection has a bit of a different twist as I put significant happenings or some of the history of my life to titles of the hits of those particular years.
I actually burned a CD with the tunes used in this hub. As I only used songs that I like I think it turned out quite good. Although in most cases only the titles and not the whole theme of the song worked itself into my story.
I know you won't want to listen to all of the added music however I hope some of these tunes bring good memories and you have fun with them too.
I believe that 1953 was a significant year as I was born then and a couple of #1 hits of that year (at least their titles) really explain some of me.
This song was to become my quest in life, I want to know all, I need to know all so "Answer me" by Frankie Laine is a true statement and "Rags to riches" by Tony Bennett can only be interpreted this way: I became a tailor (rags) and used my trade to raise my children, who are (my riches).
After the 1956 revolution in Hungary my parents and I crossed the border to Austria "In the still of the night" by The five Satins and from then on my Mom and Dad's philosophy in life became "Que sera sera, Whatever will be will be" by Doris Day.
In '57 we settled in Belgium and were "Searchin" by Coasters not realizing that our dreams there were only going to come true on "The 12th of Never" by Jonny Mathis.
So in '69 you found us "Leaving on a jet plane" by Peter, Paul and Mary for far off Canada where "These Eyes" by Guess Who couldn't take in all the beauty that our new homeland had to offer.
In '73 my dream wedding made "Just you 'n me" by Chicago an Us, but it fast became a "Right place, wrong time" by Dr. John choice and little did I know then that I would have been better off taking the "Midnight train to Georgia" by Gladys Knight and the Pips.
My now X(husband) was boasting "You're having my baby" by Paul Anka in 1974 which was until then the "Best thing that ever happened to me" also by Gladys Knight and the Pips and really came true when they placed my first born into my arms.
In '77 Debbie Boone's croon "You light up my life" became a true statement when my beautiful "Little Queen" by Heart showed up to take the world by storm.
My Dad's "Fantastic Voyage" by Lakeside in this life ended in 1981 a sad, sad day for us all to be sure. His strenghts and know-how are still missed to this day.
In '82 "You've got another thing coming" by Judas Priest if you think I'm going to put up with your c**p any longer so I say "Goodbye to you" by Scandal and that's that.
By the end of '84 I was "Holding out for a hero" by Bonnie Tyler when "Against all odds" by Phil Collins I fell in love again...
My third babe in 1989 became "The wind beneath my wings" by Bette Midler
and even though "I'll be loving you forever" by New kids on the block it's come to the "End of the line" by the Traveling Wilburys for him and I.
"Unforgettable" by Nat and Natalie Cole became synonymous with my Mom when she left us in 1992. A life that didn't have to end so suddenly. Forever in our hearts.
1999 brought a bitter sweet moment for me when "I Do, cherish you" by 98 Degrees made me I lose a daughter but then again "I could not ask for more" by Edwin McCain in a Son-in-law.
Life just gets better and what a "Beautiful Day" by U2 when "My Baby" by lil Romeo has her first babe in 2001and we would be so "Incomplete" by the Backstreet boys without babe #2 as she stole our hearts by the "Speed of Sound" by Coldplay in 2005.
And in 2007 I had to send out an "S.O.S." by the Jonas Brothers because the empty-nest-syndrome threatened to take over as I sent off my last baby to College with a "Do it well" wish by Jennifer Lopez.
Also in that same year let me say "Thanks for the Memories" by Fall out boy and on that note I'll "Wind it up" by Gwen Stefani for now.
More can and will be added as new milestones are accomplished.

My all time favorite music is blues, Jazz and naturally classical but I can honestly say that I love just about all types of music. In my long long eclectic mix I have everything from Lionna Boyd's classical guitar to Creed, Metallica,................ The Galaxy Satelite Channels are my friends because I'm not restricted to just my collection. Every morning I can set the music to whatever mood I'm in at that moment. Hope you're well Kindest regards Zsuzsy
May the good Lord bless over you Zsuzsy. Wow what a journey. Thanks for sharing significant happenings in your life. The history, well what can I say? The songs that became your quest in life, unbelievable! I had fun here today reminiscing with myself of my life journey too. Zsuzsy, thumbs way up to you on this hub.
Dottie! How are you? Always glad when you come for a visit. Music has always been a part of our lives. Listening to the old tunes from the 60's on I can parallel certain occurrences of our lives to the times when they started to be popular on the radio.
Greetings from a beautiful and sunny Ontario
kindest regards Zsuzsy
You have a wonderful list, and although I wasn't born for many of them , I have heard them and my mom would sing that song by Doris Day. I love old movies and music and I believe I had been born in the wrong time. You have some sad moments and tributes in your list and you have also listed your joys. What a wonderful hub my friend and isn't amazing how music impacts our lives?:)
A very eclectic collection and I have many of those songs on my playlist!
AEvans thanks for taking a look and for commenting. I can't imagine my life without music, well it's all music now. When the kids were teens a lot of it should have been called noise I guess. I love some out just about all the different genres.
kindest regards Zsuzsy
Cindyvine, I'm nothing if not an eclectic mixture in more ways then one, ha ha, I think I will have to make many more of these favorite music hubs because they're a lot of fun. (I just figured out how to add you tube to my hubs)
Glad you came by for a visit.
regards Zsuzsy
Hello Dear Zsuzsy! This is a beautiful hub! You've done a fabulous job picking the soundtrack to your life. You show so much love for your family, especially your parents -- it's inspiring.
Now that you're officially an empty-nester, I hope romantic love will re-enter your life. Some handsome, charming, compassionate, bright, witty, devoted man will sweep you off your feet. The song that comes to mind for that is "Once, twice, three times a lady" by Lionel Ritchie... Third time's the charm!! All the best, MM
I love the way you've woven the song titles to fit the story of your life!
Thanks MM, how does that saying go though , once bitten twice shy... third time I don't think so...
This hub turned out different then the one I had in mind when I told you that I would put my fave tunes together.
I'm always happy when you pop in for a visit. Hope you're well.
Greetings to you and your family
Zsuzsy
JamaGenee thanks for stopping by. Most of the time when I have an idea for a personal hub it seems to wander its own way. This really went off on a tangent from what I had planned.
I have three or four pages written for the "other" type of hub, maybe I'll use them next time
take care
regards Zsuzsy
Wow, great collection, Zuz! "These Eyes" is one of my faves!
Isabella, my dear how are you? Yes Burton commings and the Guess who are my age and were definitely (and still are) my fave pop group.
