There's something in the air, its retro, it's fifties. These cute repro vintage heart shaped sunglasses are great cheap eyeware and are not only classic accessories but are now cult must-haves.

Perfect for your Summer holidays 2016 and ideal for those sexy, flattering 50's dresses and rockabilly chic beloved by stars and celebrities. Anyone who loves classic Gothic or the Sweet Lolita look will need to get a pair or two - quick.

Heart shaped glasses speak of love so if it's coming up to Valentine's Day, what could be a better Valentine gift for your sweetheart? She'll love them!

Lolita grew up but the heart shaped sunglasses never seem to get old or fall from fashion favor.

Classic red heart sunglasses are still my first choice

Evan Rachel Wood of Marilyn Manson fame (see below) chose the classic red heart shaped glasses for the video below. I still love the classic red with black lenses best - so decadent, so Lolita.

Lolita made heart shaped glasses famous

Who was Lolita? These sexy, heart glasses were made popular by the film of the blockbuster best selling novel by Vladimir Nabokov and the heroine has inspired a whole Lolita fashion movement with Classic Lolita, Black Lolita, Goth and Sweet Lolita offshoots.

The book was first published in 1955 and then made into a movie by Stanley Kubrickin 1962; these cute and steamy heart shaped sun glasses have never been out of fashion since and are still cool today - just swipe a glance at Marylin Manson videos and lyrics (below).

Marilyn Manson was inspired by heart shaped sunglasses

Heart-Shaped Glasses (When the Heart Guides the Hand)

This is the sixth track on the 2007 release Eat Me, Drink Me by the singer Marilyn Manson, and not only are the glasses a direct reference to Lolita, but the title Eat Me, Drink Me quotes from Alice in Wonderland and has Vampire connotations! See Heart Shaped Glasses lyrics

Who inspired the song?

Marilyn Manson explains the inspiration for the song on BBC Radio where he recounts the time that he was reading Nabokov's Lolita, when his then girlfriend, Evan Rachel Wood turned up wearing a pair of heart shaped specs. Wood was much younger than Manson, and this also echoes the relationship between Humbert Humbert and Lolita in the novel.

Three years after the song and official video, (not suitable for children), Wood and Manson have been spotted together, she still wearing those cute glasses. I just love her gorgeous black dress and black Classic Lolita shoes. Somewhere between goth and vintage with a big pinch of fairytale princess. Such an elegant and classic look too.

Black heart shaped sunglasses would look wonderful with black taffeta

Follow Madonna with Moschino heart shaped sunglasses

Madonna looked resplendent in a pair of Moschino heart shaped sunglasses for her Sticky and Sweet concert tour in August 2008, London. This was the eighth worldwide concert tour by American singer Madonna to promote her eleventh studio album, Hard Candy. Dressed in black the star looked fabulous in her over-sized white glasses with black lenses, but it might not be easy to find the same ones.

According to LOOKBOOK.nu, Madonna threw her glasses into the crowd and they were caught by Lau Nv Buenos Aires, Argentina. Lucky or what!

You're never too old to love heart shaped spectacles

Heart shaped eyeware are cheap as chips but they are also cult objects - perfect for the young. But that needn't rule out sweetheart glasses for the rest of us.

So many other stars have been caught in their sugar sweet specs and age is no barrier! Madonna was 51 when she wore hers. Britney Spears sported shocking pink while Drew Barrymore wore a pink pair on the set of her new film Going the Distance, which co-stars ex-boyfriend Justin Long.

Kelly Osbourne has been indulging in heart shaped specs for years and apparently Tracey Lomrantz has seen her and her boyfriend in matching pairs. Although Tracy is not impressed with her look I think the retro-punk and Madonna white heart glasses look good - but what do I know? See pictures and read more at www.glamour.com

Sienna Miller looks so chic in black glasses and fur coat but Elton John looked less than chic in his!

Other Sweet Heart stars include Katy Perry and Nicole Richie

Heart shaped sunglasses for the young at heart!

You don't have to be young to enjoy these - take a leaf out of Madonna's book and have a bit of fun!
