Visit Walt Disney World: Epcot Center
83Enjoying Walt Disney World Vicariously
I always wanted to go to Disney World when I was a kid, but coming from a working class family with two brothers and two sisters, I wasn't ever able to go. When I reached adulthood, I lost interest (as most of us do) in going...That was until I was given a niece and a handful of nephews. Suddenly, my desire to go to Disney World was rekindled due to the fact that I wanted to experience from them what I would've experienced had I had the grand opportunity to go. So for 10 days or so, I experienced all four parks of Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida through their eyes.
As one of the four amazing parks that in Walt Disney World
in Orlando, Florida, Epcot Center is over 300 acres of scenic landscape—twice
the size of Magical Kingdom. Epcot Center
is divided into Future World and World Showcase. At the end of the day, make sure you don't miss the nightly fireworks show, as it's like the Fourth of July at Epcot Center every night! The best place to view it is on the United Kingdom/Canada side of the pavilion. It's absolutely spectacular.

Future World
One of the most difficult things to do while in Walt Disney World is deciding on how to utilize your precious time. As there is so much to do and see, time is of the essence. The best advice that I can give to you is to plan out your day as this will enable you to budget your time wisely. Chances are that the most popular rides in Walt Disney World have equally the longest queues. Be prepared in some cases to wait up to 2 hours for some rides unless you have the luxury of an E-Ticket.
- Spaceship Earth-As on of the most recognizable icons, Spaceship Earth is the huge golf-ball looking behemoth you see when first walking into EpcotCenter’s main entrance. A 13-minute takes passengers through a time-line from the Prehistoric Age to the world of tomorrow.
- Innoventions-Tour the many innovations of humankind featuring some of the biggest contributors including Don’t Waste It, from Waste Management, The Great Piggy Bank Adventure from T. Rowe Price, Slapstick Studios from the Velcro Companies and many more…
- Universe of Energy-Let Ellen Degeneres, Bill Nye “The Science Guy,” Jeopardy’s Alex Trebek, and Jamie Lee Curtis take you on a tour to embark on the history of energy.
- Mission: Space-Blast off into space in this thrilling shuttle launch-simulator that takes you on a mission to Mars. When going on this, I was amazed that the ride felt so real—the G forces are incredibly realistic.
- Test Track-Sponsored by General Motors, Test Track shows you exactly what it would be like to test a new vehicle, in which you reach blistering speeds around the entire perimeter of the attraction including 50 degree bank turns. It is the fastest Disney attraction ever built.
- The Seas with Nemo and Friends-Join Marlin and Dori and many other characters from Pixar’s Finding Nemo while aboard a Clamobiles as they take you on a journey to explore the coral reefs.
- The Land-Is a 2.5 million square-foot parcel that is geared towards teaching visitors to appreciate and conserve our environment’s namesake. Its main feature is a lush greenhouse full of incredible horticulture, including a Mickey Mouse- shaped pumpkin.
- Imagination!-Join a small purple dragon named Figment on a journey aboard “The Train of Thought.” Visitors will be able to experience all five senses: Taste, touch, sight, smell, and hearing.

The World Showcase
The World Showcase features the unique food venues and themes of 11 of the most recognizable countries from around the world including:
I must say that visiting Future World was a lot of fun and exciting to my nephews, the World Showcase to me was the bigger treat among the two. I felt like I could spend an entire week there alone while trying out its many restaurants and perusing through all the many shops and kiosks these featured nations had in store. In one moment I was drinking real imported German beer from a stein and in the next was eating yakitori off a stick--followed by green tea ice cream for dessert! I wish I had such places near work for lunch, as I would never run out of something new to try.
I would probably have to create a separate hub to delve into all that the World Showcase has to offer. Rest assured, each of the eleven countries that are represented have more than one restaurant for you to enjoy, so come early and come hungry! Due to the fact on which restaurant I wanted to dine in, I decided instead to simply snack on everything I could find!
One of the most intriguing and unique venues was that of Miyuki, who uses hot rice dough to create edible animal and flower confections upon request. And while in Japan, the Mitsukoshi department store should not be overlooked, as it is a shopping mall within itself. While there, you can buy a ton of toys, including Hello Kitty and Pokemon items. There’s even an aquarium-like table where visitors can choose and buy their own pearl in which staff members will shuck the oyster for you!

Wasn't Epcot the greatest? I visited Walt Disney World for the first time when I was 32. I loved Epcot. Mission:Space was my favorite ride. I was like a little kid again. I am so glad you wrote this hub.
Jeezum crow you guys are fast! Thank you Both!
Wildsurgg--Many of these pics were taken by your's truly, so thank you for the compliment! I had many more, but took only the ones that were relevant.
Davinagirl3-You know, Epcot was my favorite. I really wanted to just drink beer at Germany and watch the sun go down but I had promises to keep...I really had a blast writing this one and sorting through the hundreds of pics I had.
Very interesting Hub, you almost inspired me...but I do not have basic wish to visit any Disney World in the world. BTW, I adore Disney`s books and movies !!!
Thumbs up for the great article.
Thanks, Tatjana-Mihaela. You should reconsider. You won't ever forget it, believe me. I own almost every animated movie from Disney and every Pixar movie as well. I'm definitely a fan.
Hehe - love Disney. My daughter and I lived at both repeatedly while she was growing up. Now, she and her husband have visited the one in Germany and China... OK with you if I substitute some of your phenominal pictures in my scrapbook album though dohn? Your pics are suburb! You also write in a way that brings back every moment of joy - love it! Thank you!
It's always great to hear from you, SEM Pro! We can swap picks any day. The most difficult task I had when created this hub was deciding on which pictures to use. From Disney World alone, I took over 500 pictures. I went a little overboard, but hey, I'm glad I did. You just never know one they'll come in handy!
Please keep in touch, as I will be doing all four parks! Thanks again.
Wow, looks amazing!!! I'd love to go there someday :) It wil memorable visit...
Thanks...really great hub! Would love to take my child there oneday!
I've been to all four parks and I really must say that Epcot was my favorite. I think that as an adult, you'll find Epctot more appealing, shamelabboush :) You should definitely put it on your Bucket List!
Thank you, Silverlining. Both you and your child will enjoy it. For all of the parks in Walt Disney World, you'll need an entire day to fully experience all it has to offer, so go hungry and where some comfortable sneakers!
Excllent hub about EPCOT..awesome pics! My uncle was on the engineering team behind this center, I will be sharing this hub with him, he will Love it!
Thank you very much emohealer. I had a wonderful time at Epcot and cannot wait to go again (it's my favorite Disney World theme park). I also had a fun time writing this, including when I had to choose from over 500 pics!
Dohn - what a great hub. Epcot Center is my favourite - though I love all the other Disney World places too. I think my husband and I enjoyed it as much as our daughter did! Loved the fireworks display too!
You know what? I totally forgot to mention the nightly fireworks show! Good thing I can always go back and edit! Yes, Epcot was my favorite of all four parks and Animal Kingdom is a close second. I know what you mean--All their parks are awesome, it's just that everyone has a favorite! Thank you, Shalini.
Epcot center is like q real wonderland. (I wonder if a wonderland ever is real). lol
Despite my love for animals I am loving this one more.
One cool worth visiting place!
Again, Pictures are great!
Yeah, again, I loved Animal Kingdom during the day, but there's nothing like Epcot at night...Imagine being able to basically visit eleven countries in one day! Oh, bring money too...I dropped about $100 just on food and beer, but it was worth it, LOL.
My favorite was Epcot also. Spent 5 days there with my mother and niece a number of years ago seeing it as an adult for the first time. Always enjoy natural places (like national parks) and thought that I would not enjoy it as much as I did. Loved it. Enjoyed remembering it through your hub.
That's wonderful to hear, Peggy. I too am a big fan of natural wonders and parks. If I had to choose just one park in the entire Disney World line-up, it would have to be Epcot. I'm glad that I could help :)
Dohn, you are a wonderful resource for us all. Thank you, great article.
Hi, Ladybird33. Thank you for the comment! Epcot was my favorite out of all four of the Walt Disney World parks.
hi DOHN< Oh, Epcot. I went to Paris in 2004 and 05 (outside of the city) and it was awesome, I will send the link to my eldest son in the Philippines, so that they will see it there, and he will be inspired to study and go places.
have a good day Dohn!
I'm so glad that you enjoyed this, Pretty. Out of all four parks at Walt Disney World, I enjoyed Epcot the most. Thanks for sending out the link. I'm sure that it will entice him to come to visit. Thank you!
