Buy Lego Basketball
Lego Basketball was part of the Lego Sports Range and was a very popular series however it only ran for 2 years and was
discontinued in 2004. Kids and Adults were equally transfixed by
translating the exciting world of basketball to the tabletop, this
theme was also well served with various items from the Technics range
to add realism and good gameplay to the series. You could replicate the
real match
atmosphere with Stadium, players and training kits. In addition to the standard Game elements of this range there was also a limited edition collectable range of NBA players that was released, details of which can be seen at this NBA Collector Sets hub
Ebay is a great source for new and used Lego sets plus all these discontinued sets and they can be at extremely reasonable prices, Ebay also gives you a huge variety to choose from as well as allowing you to still find items that are no longer available
NBA Slam Dunk No. 3427
This set was released in 2003 and consisted of a basketball net, one minifigure of a basketball player and a contraption to allow the player to jump and score a basket. The set as a whole contained 54 pieces.
This set also came with a nice little black picket fence and for some reason there was also a skateboard included in the set altough the reason for this remains pretty unclear. Although not being too hard to build due to the lack of pieces the Technic pieces make this a great set to play with.
On the right are many of the items for sale on Ebay and Amazon ranging from the complete set to pieces from the set.
One vs One Action No. 3428

Ultimate Defense No. 3429
This set was released in 2003 and contained a basketball net and two minifigure players and various contraptions to allow them to jump and block. This set contained 80 pieces.
You shoot by making your minifigure flick the ball toward the basket, but there is a defender bobbing up and down in front of the basket, by means of a lever, counterweight, and wind-up mechanism ready to block the shot. Alternatively you can detach the defender if you just want to practice uncontested free throws. It's challenging but not impossible to make baskets.

Street Ball 2 vs 2 No. 3431
This set was released in 2003 and featured a small basketball court with 2 basketball nest and 4 minifigure players. This set contained 182 pieces.
The players were fixed to tiles on the court and are springloaded in order for you to fire the basketball at the hoops and hopefully pot a basket. There's not much room for dribbling in this game.

NBA Spin and Shoot No. 3430
This set was released in 2003 and featured a basketball set with two nets one on either side and 2 minifigure players to shoot at the hoops. This set contained 68 pieces.
This set also includes a wind up motor that makes the nets spin around making the shooting of the baskets a matter of skill and timing. A great training bit of equipment.

NBA Challenge No. 3432
This set was released in 2003 and is one of the biggest of the NBA Basketball sets being a full size basketball court complete with 2 nets and 10 minifigure players. This set contains a huge 441 pieces.
This is a fully functioning table-top basketball game made entirely out of Lego. You can stage your own 2-player tournament of little red men versus little blue men, or practice free throws solo. Each of your minifigures are mounted on a spring mechanism, and then shoot or pass by flicking the ball in the direction you want it to go. Each little ball player is mounted in a dimple on the court, allowing the ball to roll to him. There is also a defensive player at each end of the court who can be hoisted up and down with a lever to block shots.

Ultimate NBA Arena No. 3433
This set was released in 2003 and is the biggest of the NBA Basketball sets being a full size basketball court complete with 2 nets and 10 minifigure players. This set contains a huge 481 pieces. The difference and advantage of this set over the NBA Challenge (3432) is that this has curved sides allowing the ball to come back into play if it is sent out of the arena.
This Ultimate NBA Arena features 10 amazing collectable Lego mini-figures of Shaquille O'Neal, Kobe Bryant, Steve Nash, Dirk Nowitzki, Kevin Garnett, Allen Iverson, Jason Kidd, Tracy McGrady, Vince Carter and Antoine Walker.

NBA Jam Session No. 3440
This set was released in 2003 and contained a basketball net and two minifigure players. This set contained 68 pieces. This set was very similar in design to Set 3430 Spin and Shoot.
Success depends on a soft touch: shoot too hard and your ball will go everywhere but in the basket. The set comprises two lego minifigures on opposite ends of a double-sided basketball hoop that rotates slowly due to a wind-up motor. There is also a mini-basketball (about 6") included in the package as a bonus.

Slam Dunk Trainer No. 3548
This set was released in 2003 and featured a basketball net, one minifigure player and not much else. The set contained only 16 pieces.
This is the smallest of the NBA Basketball sets and is probably only for collectors and completists as most of the pieces and the gameplay can be got from other sets.
However this is now very rare and hard to come by on both Amazon and Ebay and if it is available on Ebay it will appear on the right as either a complete set or parts of a set.
Practice Shooting No. 3549
This set was released in 2003 and contained a basketball hoop attached to a cardboard brickwall plus one minifigure player in streetwear. This set contained only 18 pieces.
This set was aiming at the "street" version of basketball but is fairly disappointing all up.
This is also now very rare and hard to come by on both Amazon and Ebay and if it is available on Ebay it will appear on the right as either a complete set or parts of a set.
Jump and Shoot No. 3550
This set was released in 2003 and features a basketball hoop and a minifigure player. The set contains only 17 pieces.
This set is very similar in design to the previous two kits and is only really recommended for collectors or completists.
This is also now very rare and hard to come by on both Amazon and Ebay and if it is available on Ebay it will appear on the right as either a complete set or parts of a set.
Rapid Return No. 3584
This set was released in 2003 and featured a basketball hoop and minifigure basketball player plus a ball return mechanism to retrieve the ball after it goes through the hoop. This set contained 46 pieces.
This set actually fixed one of the main criticisms of the whole Lego basketball range in that once the ball went through the hoop it bounced away off the pitch whereas this allowed the ball to be returned directly to the feet of the player.
This is also now very rare and hard to come by on both Amazon and Ebay and if it is available on Ebay it will appear on the right as either a complete set or parts of a set.
