How to Choose The Right Facial Cleanser
78
It is not easy to choose the right facial soap or foam for us. Once you choose the wrong cleaning face-products, then forget all hope to have a smooth and beautiful skin. We have to be very careful for that.
Before we go any further, we'd better recognize some types of soap and facial cleanser :
Glycerine Soaps
Glycerin Soaps are soaps that contain glycerin, a component of fat or oil. The soap is recognizably different from other soaps because it is translucent. Facial skin is more delicate than most of the body skin. So, be careful in selecting the ingredients of the soap. Do not get too strong and not friendly enough to the face. But for you that enjoy the freshness of "facial wash" with soap and water, choose a soap that contains moisturizer. Transparent soap can also be used because it does not contain detergent. Glycerin soap is made by melting and continuously heating soap that has been partially dissolved in a high-alcohol until the mixture reaches a clear, jelly-like consistency. For you who don't like the fragrance may choose the unscented glycerine soap as well.
Foaming Cleansers
For skin type that require a deeper cleaning, foam cleaners can be used as a choice. Brush the foam to your face that was previously soaked, then rinse with water. Choose the right foam type for your skin.
Foaming cleanser can be used as prevention, correction, moisturizer, and protection to your facial skin. You may also consider about your skin type like dry to normal skin, oily, normal to combination skin, or sensitive skin. Mine is intend to be normal to oily skin, so I choose the simply clean foaming cleanser just for daily protection.

Facial Scrub
This cleaner contain some kind of sand that could lift the dead skin cells so that the skin is no longer dull and become more radiant. But you can not use this cleaner for daily cleansing. It can also make your face raw. Too many women are overusing their facial scrubs, giving them red, irritated cheeks.
Facial scrubs can exfoliate your skin chemically or physically. Chemical facial scrubs use salicylic, glycolic, citric, or lactic acid to chemically remove the dry dead scales on your skin’s surface. I know that dead skin cells may give us a dull and dry look, but they actually there for some reasons, such as to protect the delicate living cells below. A little exfoliating once in a while can be useful, making our skin softer and visibly brighter. But you must do this in moderation. I do it once every two weeks.
Cream Cleansers
This type of cream cleaner that have moisturize function. You may select the product according to your skin type. In order for maximum results, apply the cream to your face then clean it with cotton or tissue. We can use it everyday to remove make-up and daily cleaner. There are many kind of cream cleansers for men and women, fragrant free, or even organic cream cleanser.

Toners
After your skin cleaned with soap, cream, or foam cleanser, you should apply the toner according to skin type. Toner refers to a lotion or wash designed to cleanse the skin and shrink pores, usually used on the face. Some people dispute whether toner is actually necessary. Choose a free alcohol in order to be free from dry skin problems. According to wikipedia, there are three types of toner :
Skin bracers or fresheners
These are the mildest form of toners; they contain virtually no alcohol (0-10%), water, and a humectant such as glycerine. Humectants help to keep the moisture in the upper layers of the epidermis by preventing it from evaporating. A popular example of this is rosewater.
These toners are the kindest to skin, and are most suitable for use on dry, dehydrated, sensitive and normal skins. It may give a burning sensation to sensitive skin.
Skin tonics
These are slightly stronger and contain a small quantity of alcohol (up to 20%), water and a humectant ingredient. Orange flower water is an example of a skin tonic. Skin tonics are suitable for use on normal, combination, and oily skin.
Astringents
These are the strongest form of toner and contain a high proportion of alcohol (20-60%), antiseptic ingredients, water, and a humectant ingredient. These are commonly recommended for oily skins as they are drying, but note that the removal of oil from the skin can lead to excess oil production as the skin tries to compensate for this and prevent moisture loss. To prevent dehydration, astringent is best applied only to problem areas of skin, such as spots.
2 in 1 Cleansers (cleaner and freshener)
This is for you who do not have much time for facial cleanser. If you want practical and do not have much time, there is another option, which is cleaner 2 in 1 Cleansers. Type of liquid cleanser also contains toner, so both can be used at once.

A very important Hub. Sometimes we spend so much money on facial washes not knowing they are not the right kind.
I've seen some facial srubs now that say "Daily Facial scrub" and I think to myself the face is delicate and should not be exfoliated more than once a week.
Thanks my Beauty Guru. :)
you have complete facial product. I use milk cleansing and cleanser from Mustika Ratu product. I just applied it at night. For daily I use ponds "white beauty". I am not metro sexual man. But I am concern about skin care. especially at my face. thanks febrie. And give little comment here. I know this is for "woman" are.
Storytellerrus, in the semi-desert area like yours I think you'd better avoid face toner, it's different with my area, I live in tropical climate and I have normal to oily skin type, so it's okay for me to use face toner. I never try the Castille soap, it's look delicate, made from olive oil, right? I can't find it in my country. Thank you for your comment!
Lady E, nice to see you here :) Well I'm not a Guru LOL Just try to share the experience, I'm glad if it helps you. Have a great day !
Prasetio,
No..it's not just for woman. Healthy face skin is for every body :) All men are welcome here. Actually, my cousin (man) has a box of beauty products, you will find anything except make-ups in his box ha..ha.
The Mustika Ratu and Ponds products are great local products, I used to have Ponds products(cleanser, freshener, moisturizer, foaming cleanser etc) too since I was in college
Lots of good information here! I sent the article to my wife! I don't know why exactly, but soap information is always fascinating to me!
This is a great hub, thankyou! Facial skincare is such a minefield and I think it takes a while to find a product that works for our skin. I love Dermalogica's special cleansing gel, its gentle but leaves my skin feeling very clean and fresh. Exfoliating should not be done more than once a week, less than that if skin is sensitive, and never use make up removing wipes - they always leave me with tight, uncleansed skin - horrible!
Ben Zoltak,
Well I hope your wife may find it useful too, Thank you for visiting!
Portia Briton,
You're right, we should invest our time and money in the right facial products for us, then we will gain the healthy and clear skin. Thank you for your nice comment, have a nice day!

It is so dry here in the semi-desert that if I use toner, I lose any moisture I had because of the alcohol- ugh. Have you ever used Castille soap? This is a new discovery of mine! Thanks for the other ideas.
