Beauty Treatments ~

We all love some pampering and a trip to the beauty spa or beauty salon for our favorite facial, massage treatment, manicure or pedicure.

Be it a weekly, monthly or annual visit to the retreat of a spa, it is a luxury outing that is very easily done at home.

I started my career in Beauty Therapy which enabled me to learn all these different treatments, techniques and applications. I was then that person who continued to have regular or monthly visits to my local salon for facials, waxing, eyelash tinting, back massage and more.

These visits are no longer in my budget as circumstances change. Now I have discovered a wealth of beauty treatments that are so easy to make with fruits, vegetables, oils, nuts, herbs, flowers and an assortment of ingredients lying in our kitchen cupboards.

Apart from that, the benefits to our skin from these natural, chemical and toxin free ingredients, is staggering.

Cutting down on our “beauty spa treatments” does not have to mean cutting out.

Home beauty spa treatments may be used in different ways. For you, for groups in your house, as a gift for a loved one or even turned into a form of income, home treatments make sense on every level.

You will be surprised at how many ingredients are easily turned into amazing facial cleansers, face scrubs, exfoliating masks or excellent skin moisturizers.

Homemade products are a fantastic way of using up fruit, vegetables or herbs if you have some left over or are about to turn.

Do you grow fruit trees and end up with an abundance of citrus fruit or apples?

Have your crop of tomatoes yielded more fruit than you expected or has your Lavender reseeded and spread?

The good news is they may all be turned into the most gorgeous spa treatments.

Here are some of suggestions in different categories, which may be mixed and matched for your chosen needs.

Spa Tips ~

  • Decide which treatments you want to try to organize the ingredients in advance.
  • For groups make a list of beauty spa treatments on offer to add to the fun.
  • Always make sure to highlight risks of allergies to groups and make sure they seek medical advice prior to using. They could try a different skin treatment instead.
  • If you are interested in making as gifts, not all skin products will be suitable so double check in recipes first.
  • Maximize ingredients by choosing treatments that an ingredient is used in more than once, particularly if you have to buy it.
  • Above all have fun, give yourself and your partner, friends and family an experience to savour!
