MORMON ELDER HEALED

Our Church in Toronto, Ontario, Canada

When Sis. Ehsan Latif, our Egyptian sister left for Rome to be with her husband, who had been transferred there, she told Sis. Lynne Patch, our Canadian member the name of a person she had been preaching to and said that he seemed very interested in our church.

Sis. Lynne, a swimming instructor wanted me to accompany her

to visit Leonardo Cervara, a Mormon elder who was paralysed as a result of a brain surgery, five and a half months ago. His daughter was a friend of Sis. Ehsan, a French teacher and she was very keen for us to continue preaching to this Mormon elder.

Sis. Lynne picked me up after work at the Old City Hall, Toronto and we drove from Toronto to Mississauga about 20 miles away. On the way, Sis. Lynne said that her car was low on gas and that we could buy some on the way. We prayed that we could get some gas on the way. However, we did not pass the gas station that Sis. Lynne was looking for and she kept saying, "We must pray that we can find a gas station on the way." Mile after mile passed and we still did not see the gas station that she wanted and as we drove, we kept praying to God to help us arrive safely in Mississauga. The gas tank showed it was empty.

Finally, we arrived at the home of Elder Leonardo Cervara where we were greeted by him and his daughter. Right after this, she completely disappeared from sight. Later speaking to

Elder Leonardo we learnt he was the only one who believed in God. His wife was disappointed because God did not heal her husband and did not respond to her prayers. His daughter did not believe in God and his son-in-law was a Muslim. So we were left with him alone in the living room.

Before we prayed, I explained to him how he must believe in God, repent and ask for forgiveness before God would listen to his prayers. We normally kneel down in respect to pray to God. He said, "I'm sorry. I cannot kneel down to pray. When I kneel down, I cannot get up." I replied, "It is up to you whether you want to kneel down or not. However, both Sis. Lynne and I will kneel down to pray." We then started to pray. His left hand was clenched tightly into a fist. As we prayed, I opened my eyes and started to open his fingers one by one. It took some time for the fingers to open up. They were clenched so tightly. We continued praying until all the fingers were opened. I stopped the prayer and said, "In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, stand up."

Elder Cervara cried loudly, "I am sorry. I cannot stand up. It is because I do not have enough faith." He struggled to stand up. Straightway, the fingers on his left hands were clenched tightly again. My reply was, "Do you wish to try to pray again?" He replied, "Yes!"

We went down on our knees again to ask for help, "Lord, I

believe; Help thou mine unbelief" (Mark 9:24). We prayed more earnestly. When the prayer was stopped, I again said, "In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, stand up!" Immediately, he stood up and walked around the room. Elder Cervara was crying and laughing at the same time, "God is great! God is wonderful! He listens to our prayers."

His wife and daughter rushed into the room. There was much rejoicing! Elder Leonardo Cervara was healed and he was able to walk. God listens to the prayers of those who have faith and love "Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole." (Matthew 9:22).

Hallelujah! God is merciful and loving to every man on this earth.

"For there is no respect of persons with God." (Romans 2:11;

Ephesians 6:9; Colossians 3:25)

On the way home, we were able to find a gas station that Sis. Lynne wanted. We were extremely glad that God had granted our wish to fulfil God's will and Sis. Ehsan's concern for her friend's father. All glory to God.

Sis. Ehsan Latif was baptized on 5 July, 1980 and Sis. Lynne

Patch was baptized on 6 July, 1981 with her daughter Stacey Patch.

Hallelujah! The faith of both sisters and the faith of Elder

Leonardo Cervara resulted in the miracle of Elder Cervara being able to walk.

Praise the Lord for His mercy and grace.

Thank you for your comments. Miracles happened in the past and do happen now when people call on the Lord Jesus Christ.

A great story of faith rewarded.  Did he have a blessing by a member of the Priesthood?

Some faith, is not rewarded in this life, and we are reminded of many who suffer, but it is not due to a lack of faith.  God heals, whom He heals, and not always those who ask, even in faith.

I am glad you did not run out of gas, I, too have had the miracle of God taking care of me when I did not prepare.  I've also had the experience of Him letting me feel the outcome of being unprepared and stranded on the side of the road.

Next time, fill the tank.  =))

The elder did have the blessing of a member of the priesthood.

God healed the Mormon elder for some specific reason. Maybe because of the faith of the three people involved in the healing or because He wanted to change the hearts of the elder's family, his wife, daughter or son-in-law. The family was very pleased with the healing.

God bless.

Patty Inglish, Ms

Thanks for your Tthumbs Up. You have cheered me up. Not many people respond to miracles. They are more interested in making more money.

I loved the miracle...they are a blessing in our lives and for those who read and observe them.  I also feel for those who are still waiting for their miracles, as time has no end, and somethings will be given at the next level.

I am grateful for all my daily miracles and blessings and so glad others tell the stories of theirs.

The Internet is a source of income, so badly needed by many, but I know what you mean that sometimes we don't pay attention to stories of the heart and soul.

There are those who have encountered miracles but do not realize that they are miracles. There are also small miracles which we encounter in our daily life. When I write on important hubs on biblical issues, I often encounter obstructions to my writing. After prayers to God, they are solved. Sometimes I have to rewrite two or three times. The articles often get lost.

Now I have this problem. When I write on a draft and shut the computer at night. The next day when I get back to the computer, I cannot add in anything on the draft. I wonder how to solve this problem. I pray that God would send me help soon.

If people get paid for their hubs, thank God that He has given them a life line for their means of living, but they have to be careful not to be obsessed with just making money. Life is more than making money.

People who are grateful to God for small mercies are often happier and well adjusted people.

God bless.

Are you writing your hubs in draft on the hubpages software?

Well, I've seen the adversary do strange and weird things. One time, I was in a cemetary looking for a grave, for genealogical reasons...and I couldn't find it. Over and over I looked. Finally, my husband came over to help, and there it was. Plain as day, but I had not been able to see the writing on the headstone.

Very strange, but I did feel that someone somewhere was blocking my vision. Later, I've talked to many people in the church who had similar experiences during their lifetime.

I could have sworn the headstone had not been there.

I hope you get your drafts to work, and I do believe there are elements of life we can't explain. =))

I write my draft on Outlook Express and transfer it to HubPages software after I complete my article. There was a time when I had the problem of Copy and Paste. I could not copy and paste. A couple of days ago, I could not print on my computer.

Thanks for understanding that the adversary does strange things to frustrate us, but God helps us when we pray. God answers my prayers for help.

I really am not good on the computer and rather unfamiliar with computer terms and technology. I just get along with regular typing and researching the internet.

God bless.

frogyfish,

Thank you for commenting. I suppose the family was grateful but I have not heard from the family.
