Perks of Writing

Updated on April 26, 2010

There are perks to this writing business. Who would of thought!

I recently wrote a review on Ginger Software. It was this new spelling grammar checker that was out there. I tried it out of course being that I could use all the help I could get in that department. I discovered though that Microsoft words and Microsoft works were two different things as when I tried Ginger Software out it did not work, but I still managed to give a good review on it and the cost and pricing of this new product. Ginger software also was above and beyond your average spell checker in that it also worked on the internet and you could spell check right on the internet say if your writing a email or posting on forums so on and so forth. This did work for me for I had the right web browser which was internet explorer. I thought this feature was fun, and useful, so I wrote a second review on the internet spellchecking feature Ginger software offers.

 The Perks

Some time later I got a personal email from one of the officials at Ginger software. They thanked me for my articles on Ginger, and in that thanks they wanted to offer me free software subscription for a year, and to advise them in any glitches the software may have that I encounter for I did mention in my review I managed to stump the spell checker in a word I spelled for the software had no idea what I was trying to say. I had simply forgotten to put a space in between the words. For another special thing about Ginger software was it was supposed to catch words that can commonly be mistaken for other words for example say you meant whether and you spelled it weather. It would pick that up depending on your sentence content that you meant whether not weather. I was deeply honored by this, and also a bit ecstatic. OH YEAH!!! While Ginger software was not compatible yet with my writing software I still loved the internet feature and could still use Ginger to correct my articles. I wrote in my word processor and even use spell check there. I then transfer my writing from word processor over to the site I am publishing on lets say Hub Pages. It is now on the internet so I can then use Ginger and spell check my writing again to make sure its as error free as it can get the click publish!

Humbling Experience

As awesome as this was it was a humbling experience as well. I realized my words do reach people. It also made me realize the power of the written word and what it can do. I also wondered jokingly if I wrote about Friskies cat food would it be seen by them, and I get a free supply of cat food for a year? Moral of this is if you are up for it writing can truly be rewarding. Writers unite!
