When I'm Alone: A Poem

The steam from my hot coffee warms my face,

At midnight as I listen to sad melodies,

When I'm alone.

My thoughts drive through empty highways and corridors,

Dragging me through the dusty past,

When I'm alone.

I think of you and your hollow house,

And dream of other places I'll never go,

When I'm alone.

I wait in silence, seeking truth,

Hoping for a brilliant sunrise and a new beginning,

When I'm alone.

Lovely to think upon.

Very brown.

I think potential!

The promise of a room filled with one to keep company.

I think you would like this song to art ekphrastic work:

Beautifully sad and yet hopeful. Sometimes week seek the solitude and can't find it. We also have times when we are stuck and need to seek the sunrise of new beginnings you speak of here. :)

The Stages of Me: This is so true. I tend to seek solitude as an introvert. Thank you for reading!
