What literary magazines would you recommend?
I'm thinking about subscribing to 1 or 2 literary magazines. Can anyone recommend any, do you know of any to steer clear of?
Atlantic Monthly
The New Yorker
Vanity Fair (really!)
These are the only ones I can think of.
Anything has lots of stories and activities to do. I love them so much.
I'm not sure what exactly you mean with 'literary', but if you are looking for educational/interesting magazines, I grew up with Reader's Digest (they always have great offers on annual subscription discounts) and National Geographic Explorer. As a history fan, I also read several different history magazines.
There are websites where you can order magazine subscriptions online for less than store price and they send some of their proceeds to animal rescues or other non-profit organizations you yourself choose (if they participate).
Reader's Digest i guess. It is the only one i know that is available in several continents
Writers digest in my opinion is the best with The Writer a close second. Both magazines are helpful to new and seasoned writers. The Digest offers contests on different genre's of writing and also holds on of the best Writers Conferences every year.
You don't necessarily need magazines anymore to get your information..
There are blogs that can be very helpful

Thank you everyone for some great suggestions!! I appreciate you taking time to answer and help me out!
Poetry is a very old lit mag, but I find it pretty obscure. I really like Three Penny Review a lot. They have a lot of interesting articles, some short fiction and some poetry. American Poetry Review is one I subscribe to also.
Writer's Digest is definitely one I would recommend as is The Writer Magazine. Both of them offer advice, writing prompts, and contests for writers. I've personally written for The Writer Magazine, and I know the information provided in that magazine is really beneficial to authors.
I don't specifically know any to stay away from as they have to be legit to really make it long-term.
Please let me know if you have any more questions! I'm happy to help.
I love New Yorker and the writing style of The Rolling Stone. In the Philippines we have to get these in second hand bookstores, but the plus side is, they are cheaper that way.

I enjoy curling up to read a magazine with a focus on writing. I recently received the November/December issue of Writer's Digest and was pleased to see the first page. It lists about seven available freelance markets for which there is an abundant need. My favorite of the writers' magazines...

Why do Hub writers not appreciate literary critique to improve their craft?I wrote a suggestion in the forum yesterday about adding the ability to include MINOR feedback to authors while rating articles in the Hub Hopper. I know peeps can get rude with critiques - but I think that can be minimized....

I have a flipboard account. I created magazines. Flipboard says I have 20 articles posted to the site. Where are they? I'm trying to see them so I can move them into magazines..
