   Why is a webpage better than a blog?
   
   I am starting a blog for the first time. I read a webpage is better than a blog. Can anyone tell me why? Except that you have to have a blog active for 6 months before you get adsence,  I would appreciate your help to see if it is better to buy a webpage before I go too far into blogging.

   I think the answer depends on the terminology. A webpage is technically any single page on a website, which could also be a blog. Do you mean is it better to have a dedicated website with your own domain name than a blog hosted on a platform like HubPages or WordPress.com? If so, independently owned websites are *sometimes* seen as more authoritative by search engines, but even that depends on a lot of things.
   
   If you're just starting out, a hosted blog has the benefit of a built-in community for easy networking. With a dedicated website, you have to wait until readers find you through your use of SEO techniques, or seek them actively through marketing. A hosted blog makes you visible to the host site's existing readership. So no, I wouldn't say a website is better, but it does offer more control over your link structure, content, affiliates and other things that become important once you gain a larger readership.

      Thanks you @lanablackmoor. My hosted blog is Blogger and I agree it is easier to get views and networking with existing readership so I will continue on then. Thanks again for all your input on this issue.

   I think how you choose to present yourself online depends on your particular style, and what you want to offer. For example, I have one web site that has no blogging on it, because it's my art portfolio. I have another that uses blogging software to sort articles into various categories, but also doesn't include a traditional blog. And I have a business site that's basically a storefront, but also includes a blog for posting updates and new product announcements.
   
   Before you decide which is better, figure out what you want to do with your site or blog. Do you want to write or post photos regularly? Maybe a blog is for you. Do you want to post a bunch of permanent content that changes infrequently? Maybe a web site is the way to go.

   Both have a different purpose. A blog is to engage your readership with a consistent growth of content. Content and readership are the keys for a blog. A website also is meant for engagement but of a different kind. Here the increasing visitors count and conversion to the purpose is very important. For example, your website tells about your work and you want readers to buy a product from here, it is the real purchase that happens that will matter and serve the purpose of your website. So here conversion is the key.
