Patio Blinds

Updated on December 30, 2010

On a nice spring, summer, and fall day, it is nice to be able to sit out on your porch and patio and just enjoy being outdoors while still loving your outdoor living space that gives you shelter from the weather and the typical hot or cool air.

If you have windows or doors on your patio, then you may want to consider getting some patio blinds or backyard blinds in order to keep the sun out, as well as eliminate possible prying eyes. Privacy is important, and while most of the time you'll probably have the blinds open in order to enjoy your garden or backyard, there are times you'll want to shut the blinds, and so having blinds is necessary in order to do that.

I am going to be telling you about some of the different kinds of patio blinds that are popular. Then, you can make a decision about what kind is best for you and your patio.

Bamboo Patio Blinds

One of the most popular kinds of blinds these days is bamboo patio blinds. Their look is elegant, and perfect for your outdoor setting. They are also pretty popular for those are are trying to be eco-conscious and eco-friendly because bamboo blinds for the patio are made out of mostly natural materials if not exclusively.

They are also pretty durable, and they can withstand the harsh sunlight better than synthetic materials can, and they can also handle the rain if you live in an area that receives lots of rain. Bamboo patio blinds can also add to your decor, being able to match bamboo patio furniture, as well as other bamboo decorations and additions on your patio.

Because bamboo blinds are usually rolled up, this allows you to be able to control how much light is able to get into the patio. If you only want a little bit of light but still more privacy or shielding from most of the light, then you can just roll the bamboo outdoor patio blinds up your desired amount. Other types of blinds don't allow you to control the amount of light you're letting in as well as these bamboo kinds do.

Vertical Blinds

Another type of patioblinds that are popular are vertical blinds. Much like the type of vertical blinds that are found in the home, these vertical patio blinds are great for use on the patio. These are usually made out of a different materials than the variety that you find in your home. They are made to withstand the weather, as well as the directly sunlight.

Because you are able to tweak how much you open them, they also provide a great way to control the amount of light you want to let in, as well as control how much privacy you want to have. They are also pretty popular because they are usually the most affordable kind.

Vertical patio blinds are also easy to clean, as you can just wipe them down, and move on. You don't have to do anything special, just a quick wipe down and you're on your way to finishing the rest of the cleaning that needs to be done.

Horizontal Patio Blinds

Having already mentioned vertical patio blinds, we obviously need to include horizontal patio blinds as well.  These can be opened by the turn of a rod, and they can be lifted up as well as let down in order to let in as much light as you want.

Although they have a wide variety of colors and designs, they aren't as popular as the other kinds listed above.  Each person has their own style, and their own vision when it comes to what they want on their patio for blinds, so I am just listing the various options that you have available to you when you're decorating your patio.

Conclusion

Having a patio is nice and a great way to add extra living space to your home without having to create expensive room additions.  Putting up blinds, as i said before, is a very nice way to be able to control how much light is let onto the patio, and also gives you that added sense of privacy when you're just wanting to hang out on the patio and not be disturbed.  Having blinds that you can easily open is essential to allowing you to enjoy your backyard, as well as a nice garden you may have worked hard on to create.  Good luck in your search for the perfect patio blinds for you.
