Choosing Towel Sets for your Bathroom

Updated on August 30, 2010

To make your bathroom look really good it doesn’t matter how high the standard of decoration is, you also need to use attractive accessories. One of the most important accessories in a bathroom and using a good quality towel set can really make a difference to the look and feel of the room. Towel sets come in all sorts of qualities and designs so it’s easy to find something to suit both your budget and your style.

The price of the towels sets you choose will depend on their quality and also the type of fabric they are made from.  The quality of cotton towels is measured by weight so a 700g towel will be thicker and of higher quality than a 600g towel. Heavier towels are generally fluffier, more absorbent and more luxurious. Of course cotton is not the only fabric available and you can also buy towel sets in linen or bamboo fabrics.

Types of Towel Set

Most people will choose to buy bathroom towel sets in a solid color that matches or enhances their bathroom decoration. It is of course possible to buy individual towels rather than a set but buying one or two sets will give you every type of towel you need for your bathroom and often work out cheaper than buying items individually. Most sets include 6 towels of different sizes – 2 hand towels, 2 bath towels and 2 wash cloths.

Plain colors are the most popular but if you’d like to add a bit of interesting design to your bathroom there are other options. Embroidered towel sets are available and these can look particularly nice on display – great to leave in a guest bedroom. Floral designs are common but you can also choose fish, leaves, abstract patterns, or anything that will go with the style of your bathroom.

Towel sets for kids and gifts

You can also buy a towels set for children which are often colorful and feature cute characters. Baby towels sometimes come with hoods which are extra cuddly after bath time. It’s easier to dry children with a smaller towel so it’s a good idea to have a separate set for use with your kids. Children’s towel sets are usually smaller than the full sets including just one towel and a wash cloth.

A towel set makes a great wedding, house warming or baby shower present. Towels are always useful and you can be sure your gift will always be used and appreciated. If you’re not sure of the color scheme or tastes of the person you’re giving it to, you can always go with plain white or neutral colors that will work in any bathroom.

Buy Towel Sets

Cheap towel sets are usually available to buy in supermarket and discount home wares stores. If you’re looking for something with a little more quality then try a large department store or looking on line where there are many sites listing many hundreds of different options for towel sets. For extra large or bright towels, try looking for a beach towel as an alternative to normal towels.

For extra long lasting towels then look for salon towels suppliers as the towels used in salons are much more stain resistant and stand up well to daily washing.

If you’re looking for a quick and easy way to brighten up your bathroom without resorting to redecorating or spending a fortune, then buying a new bathroom towel set could be just the way to go.
