Why is it suddenly taking longer to get hot water from my kitchen faucet?
In the past when I turned on my kitchen faucet I got hot water right away. Just recently I noticed I have to let it run for a couple of minutes before I get hot water. Its still just as hot, but it takes longer for it to come to the faucet. Is it a bad element?
Could be a bad element... .
But its winter right now.. in the sever cold the water pipes get very cold.. so the first water going through the pipe gets its heat "stolen" before it gets to you... Because the cold metal pipes take all of the BTU's (Thermal Units) from the water.. then as the water flows for a moment you finally get Hot water after the pipes warm up.
Warning: If your pipes are getting that cold then you also risk busted pipes from freezing with water inside of them...
You need to Insulate the pipes.. and maybe even get a electric wrap to install on them... Busted pipes are a pain... you want to prevent that.

Which do you think is better - one of the filter water pitchers or a special filtered faucet?I was at a friend's house recently and she had installed a small spigot next to the regular faucet for filtered water. Her reasoning was that drinking water was a small amount of the water used through the...
