Why do the Teapartiers vote against their own interests?
Why do the Teapartiers vote against their own interests? They breathe the same air and drink the same water but support deregulation and dismantling the FDA and FEMA. Their taxes helped bailout the banks while the Republicans hold back regulations on the financial markets.
We teapartiers believe in getting rid of bloated government spending and over-regulation. The government is not the answer to problems -- they are the cause of the problems. That is why we welcome democrats and republicans to our rallies. We also support people of all colors because the issues are not political or racial -- they are economic. The news media MIS-represents our ideas and goals to the public because they are radical leftists (socialists & communists), calling us racists and other lies. I have been to 2 major teaparty events, (1 in St. Louis under the Arch and another in Washington DC with Glenn Beck)... and saw NO RACISM. In fact, I saw people of various races in the crowd AND on stage giving speeches with no incidents. Do not believe the lies put out by the socialist news media.
You are wholesale wrong about "our own interests", about all matters, really.
The EPA does more harm than good, so too the FDA. Regulation of, and dabbling in, the financial markets by the government, is the cause of the current financial debacle.
Frankly, you just have no idea what you're talking about.
You might want to define what you think "their own interests" are before you ask the question.
I don't belong to the Tea Party, but I certainly believe in a lot of what they are trying to do. You, my friend, are obviously of the bent that more government regulation produces better results. It is quite possible to get the government off the peoples' backs and have a cleaner, healthier, richer, and more tolerant society.
Ever hear of churches? They provided much of what the government now taxes you to provide, however they did their work without 27 layers of bureaucracy.
My mother recently passed from Alzheimer’s disease and for the nearly two years she was bed-ridden Medicare covered her at-home nursing care. The Medicare-approved plan consisted of daily (M-F) sponge baths which took about 1 hour each (22 hours a month) and a visit from a RN once a month (2 hours). For this, the hospital charged $8,000 a month. Let’s say the RN charges $100 an hour, and the elderly care technician charges $25 an hour. That’s a total of $850 for services and $7,150 in administrative charges to process paperwork and government-mandated forms.
A government large enough to hand out a trillion dollars to the jerks that ran the banks into the ground and caused the problem is what the Tea Party wants to see disappear. It might have been a lot smarter to make that money available to homeowners, which would have propped up the home values, and mitigated the meltdown. But you have to repay graft somewhere, don’t you?
If you want to see the daily impact of out-of-control government spending, visit http://www.myhomevirtuoso.com/natldebt.html when you get a chance.

Utopianism is the real crux of the problem: the insistence of attempting to establish that which can never exist. We are a society which is driven by hope. We are fed hope by every commercial, billboard and salesperson! We live for hope, thinking there is a magic fix for every ill. Government can...
