Do you think law enforcement should be the best solution to curbing drug use by youth?

Studies have shown that parental opinion is the strongest factor in what our teens do in their free time.

So law enforcement is good but we need parents who will draw lines and actually pay attention to their kids instead of being so consumed by their own lives and jobs.

Nope...not at all. Tough law enforcement and tough crime laws turns one-time offenders of victimless crimes into hardened crimals.

not at all. law enforcement is the last thing kids need to prevent drug use. parents , friends and family are the people who should be doing this.

I personally do not see it that way.  By the time that something becomes an issue at the law enforcement level, it is already a problem thus it should have been addressed long before the crime was committed.  Law enforcement at best is a potential deterrent but that is the best that it can be.  As parents, we can not sit on the sideline and wait for law enforcement to teach our children to wrongs of drugs in any vain.  We have to be the first line of response  We have to teach right from wrong as a concept in general then when it comes to drugs the child knows what bin to use.  We have to teach prevention not cure.  Cure is almost too late.  We have to intervene before that point. We have to intervene before the child is exposed to the wrong friends, etc .We have to establish a level of respect with the child at an early enough age that they do not ignore us at 16 and join a gang or start with drugs. We have to teach leadership;  we have to set examples...maybe, as parents, we don't need to be doing body piercings and tatoos...it could be sending the wrong message. You can't ask the child to ignore your actions.  If they look up to you enough, they will want to emulate you...maybe you need to think about setting the best example for the situation. WB
