   The benefits are far more limited than the satisfaction obtained.  I think the primary benefit, if there is one, is that it sends a message that the USA is persistent in its goals with regard to terrorism so if you plan to commit and action on the USA, you should be wholly prepared to suffer the consequences though they may be long term in coming. You might remember years back when Reagan dropped the bombs in to Ghadafi's desert tent.  Prior to that point, Ghadafi had run his mouth and issued all sorts of ugly threats. Reagan's message was clear...shut the hell up!  Our bargaining power in the world comes from our strength and suffers from our shown weaknesses.  We are a compassionate people but we cannot use symbolize as true compassion which is exactly what took place when Bin Laden was given all the rights of an Islamic burial. It is symbolism overe substance and it does not make any gains.  It basically sends the message...hey look, we kiled the guy but we sure treated him right after his death. It's like running over someone's son and then offering to pay for a really nice funeral afterwards....it doesn't cut it. The real message it sends is "we don't want to make you too mad!".. WB
