True or False: Today's hard right seeks total dominion.
Today's hard right seeks total dominion. It's packing the courts and rigging the rules. The target is not the Democrats but democracy itself. Journalist Bill Moyers is quoted as saying "True, people of faith have always tried to bring their interpretation of the Bible to bear on American laws and morals ... it's the American way, encouraged and protected by the First Amendment. But what is unique today is that the radical religious right has succeeded in taking over one of America's great political parties. The country is not yet a theocracy but the Republican Party is." Agree or disagree?
The funny thing is, if you look at the teachings of Jesus, there's not really anything Christian about the Republican Party.
Very true. Unfortunately the ones who benefit from the GOP policies (lower taxes on the rich, deregulation etc) are able to get the masses all hot and bothered with social issues, then they laugh all the way to their Cayman Island bank.
There's nothing like a huge dose of hyperbole.
It goes back to before the American Revolution though. It's very deep-rooted.
The Puritans came here from England because they couldn't get their way to their satisfaction, not to establish religious freedom for all. They persecuted the Quakers mightily. They wanted to establish their own theocracy and like Cromwell's rebel common men in England, they were mean, scrappy, and ready to fight.
So we've always had these two strains in religious and political life: The intolerant strain that believes imposed right on others is virtuous, and the peaceable strain that believes tolerance and community is the way.
Right now, we're split about 40/40, with the 20% in the middle wobbling back and forth. Don't know how this will shake out.
It's paranoid nonsense from one point of view, political fearmongering from another.
Oh ... pardonez moi ... it was a true or false question.
OK. False.
I think the Republican Party has some pretty goofy things that they think should apply to the laws in the Country..... and theocracy is one of the words that comes to mind.....
Disagree. Wow, what a question... and I don't think that you are looking for an answer either by the way... as you have made your position very hard and clear... but for grins and giggles...
The Right is not seeking Domination but rather trying to stave off Annihilation. For all of your accusations it seems that you fail to take a real clear look at what is taking place. Abortion is legal... prayer in school is not... gay marriage is gaining acceptance legally in many states... the President of the United States is very much a left leaning politician... and the majority of the news media are Moderates at best and lean somewhat to the left if they aren't flat out horizontal.
Are they, the Right Wing, trying to influence the direction of their country? Of course... are not those on the left trying to do the same? Is that not what democracy is all about anyways?
Wouldn't it be Wrong if we did not try to influence our country through the right to vote and legislate as the constitution outlines? Wouldn't that be a Check without a balance? It's a conflict of ideas... of beliefs... but in the end it's our country... both the right and the left and we're going to have to just be okay with that.
I disagree ... big time.
And poor Bill Moyers -- he was born with a size-16 left foot in his mouth.

There are some who believe Trump is the great problem solver. He is now trying to solve the problem as to why he wasn't elected for a second term by terminating the most sacrosanct document the country has, namely the Constitution of The United States of America. See it's very easy,...

I keep hearing the pro-republican news outlets like fox etc. talking about news that does not matter at this point. Since they had such a stanglehold on the candidate, I mean, they seem to work together as far as politics go. is this what America can expect now that the election is over?I see...

This is not only an admission of guilt for Fox News, but also includes Fox News broadcasters, Trump, Guiliani, Sydney Powell, et al.. This can also be used as evidence in Trump's claim that the election was rigged by Dominion. This raises the question, can certain forms of lying be charged as...

I sat this morning sipping my savory coffee reading Facebook looking for humorous quips, cat and pup videos, intriguing discoveries of history, science, and life hacks, of course auto racing, and posts of friends sharing life. Then I wandered to what am I most hopeful about and, too, most worried...
