Although the health care reform act is far from perfect it will provide many benefits including coverage for many millions of Americans without health care insurance and a number of avenues for reducing the unsustainable rate of health care cost increases.

Thanks Wizard of Whimsy. I watched "Escape Fire". I was struck with the idea that the U.S. has a sick-care system, you stay sick so you keep coming back to spend more at you doctor's office. It's not a wellness, preventative care system.

Only 2% of the population knows what is in the Affordable Healthcare Act according to recent polls. Americans, however, like the individual items when asked about them directly.

What 75% agree on is that you shouldn't be kicked off your policy or have the premium raised just because you got sick. And anyone should be able to buy a policy. And all children and pregnant women should have guaranteed health insurance just like senior citizens, rather than use the ER room.

And most importantly, small businesses should get a 35% tax rebate on every dollar spent on employee health insurance. And that health exchanges should be set up so that there is more competition in the healthcare feild. And that Medicare should be auditied and costs cuts through restructuring. And that computer records be used in order to speed up doctor note-taking, if the doctor wants.

Americans like these things and so do I, espcially the part that allows me to buy a health insurance policy. Being a small business owner, I've always been turned down.

I like your comment.  I think Obama care is a good thing.  They have just done a terrible job of selling its features. It's interesting when people hear about the features, they like it.  But when it's expressed as Obama Care, they don't like it.

Thanks peoplepower73. I have a small business and I bet everything on it. Who knew I'd get sick. No one would sell me insurance until Obamacare. So I had to sell my home to pay my health bills. They're 10 times as high as an insurance company pays.

Say hello to the beginning of your enslavement to the system (or should I say, to the corporation.)  Government now assumes the power to force an individual to engage in commerce.

There's something to be said about people being able to receive healthcare if they want it, but as I understand it, we will be "taxed" hundreds of dollars now for "not" buying healthcare.

To my mind that's a slippery slope to a tyrannical government.  Where does it end?  "Hmm.. you won't buy solar panels for your home?  Tax!  You won't buy a green car?  Tax!  You won't bike to work?  Tax!"

I really do not see how this is Constitutional.

I'm sad that you see it as enslavement. It actually benefits a good majority of Americans. It wont affect u personally if you have employee offered health benefits, if you are covered by Medicaid,  or Medicare. It helps those w preexisting conditions

ObamaCare is going to help grow jobs in the medical field (with the new onset of insured individuals). Anything that will help decrease the current unemployment rate should be applauded! More jobs in return will help raise our economy and the value of the dollar. In my opinion, we are bringing upon good changes for the economy and Americans as a whole.
