Who is to be blame for the massive debt problem in the US?
Policies of the present or past administration?
Several of the past administrations have contributed, but the current has really helped increase it. The problem isn't who is responsible or why it happened. Time to quit looking at the past. The past is past. The real question is who and what is going to be done about it. It will take a leader to get the "children" in Congress to move toward solving this problem rather than everyone pointing fingers or worrying about their next election.
In 2008, Obama promised to bring spending down and cut the deficit. He didn't. Should he get a second chance or is it time to give someone else a try?
As you said; it's time to stop pointing fingers and placing blame. That said, however, let me point out that Obama INHERITED the mess from 8 prior years of "George Dub-yah" ...Clinton left office with a surplus in place! The Repukes destroyed it.
Bush did spend like crazy, but Obama continuing doesn't make it right for either of them. 2 wrongs don't make it right. Take the job if you want to clean up the mess not if you want to blame the last guy for the mess.
Interesting how we believe the finger pointing should stop and then it starts again. For the record GW spent like a fool in his last term and we are paying the price now. However it is also true that Obama is also spending like a fool so we need to stop giving him a pass and allowing him to blame Bush. Obama, by his own choices, has joined the long list of politicians who are spending our nation into oblivion and it is foolish to keep allowing "your guy", whether a democrat or republican, to escape responsibility. The politicians, on both sides, are playing the voters like a violin and many Americans appear to enjoy being used by "their guy".
Great Point. Bush did spend like crazy and Obama has continued it and we are all going over the cliff.
Isn't it a collective responsibility? Sure there are bad apples in the money/political business, but who put them there? Who created the structure that allowed them to get there?
I disagree that the past is the past. The past creates the future and unless we understand and learn from the past we can't change the future. It's like saying "I had a car that broke down, but that was in the past, I'll just get a new one. But if you don't undertand why your car broke down then you are likely to make the same mistake again eg buy another lemon, forget to put oil in it etc etc.
I think Mr Greed is responsible for the massive debt problem..sounds simple but we all have a little bit of Mr Greed in us, some more than others and tend to vote for the political party that serves our personal monetary interests rather than looking and demanding what is best for the whole.

How's that hope-y change-y thing working out for ya?3% growth is better than what we've had the past 2 years but will we actually be able to achieve it once the new taxes kick in? What about the debt crisis in Europe? It seems they have made the same mistake we made approving a trillion dollar bail...

for the Libya problem. I'm not sure which channel it was on. I'm in the office. If hubby was watching the TV last, it's on FOX. If I was watching last, it's on CNN.

Is Romney a bold face liar when he claims Obama's federal spending is unprecedented? The facts are as follows: Reagan '82 - 85 federal spending was 8.7 and 86 - 89 4.9. Bush I 5.4 and Bush II 7.3 - 8.2. Clinton was 3.2 - 3.9 and Obama 1.4 on government spending. Without talking about...

Nancy Pelosi was on Fax News last Sunday continuing to claim their is no spending problem. She also claims that sequestration was wrong. First, if it was so wrong as she admittedly claimed, why did she so vocally support it in the first place?Second, she blames the Republicans cuts would...

Isn't anyone else out there sick to death of people blaming Obama for the mess we are in? Recently, during Obama's State of the Union speech, which thank God, did not fall prey to Wilson high melodrama, McCain turned to another GOP and said, "Blame it on Bush." My question to...
