I would rather we have to prove that we know something before voting. It would at least curb some of the mindless and silly propaganda launched by the media and people would me a lot more likely to vote on real issues. People have voted on and therefore helped pass through some things that they absolutely do not understand. As a result, we will be paying higher taxes and will lose some of our freedom.
Had people not been swayed by the media, those who don't understand issues would have neglected to vote and those who truly know what they are voting on would be prepared to do what is best for the country.

Absolutely not! Who gets to decide who is and is not qualified to vote? Check the Civil Rights Acts of 1964 and 1965, and go back and study the Jim Crow laws in the South that gave literacy tests; white people got simple tests in English and black people got tests in Latin, which of course they failed. The dangers in this are horrendous.

How does this apply to today when every American citizen speaks english? Would it be okay if all of the tests were written in english and if the tests were aptitude tests based on one's basic understanding of the US Constitution and the history of th

I don't know if we should. I know I am never going to vote and end up with regret ever again!
