Do you think North Korea would risk a nuclear attack on the US or one of its allies?
North Korea for what ever reason is flexing its military muscle and directing it towards the United States. The United States claims it will remain strong in its stance to use nuclear power as a deterrent to a pre-emptive strike by North Korea. If both North and South Korea are preparing for an attack, who is to say that the truce signed 60 years ago would not be broken simply because of the military build up on both sides? Are we prepared for another Korean War?
North Korea is as always bluffing. Their people are starving to death because of the heavy sanctions that have been put on them for this type of behavior. They know if they do something this stupid, the United States will annihilate them. They are only trying to get the sanctions reversed, so they can become prosperous like their neighbor South Korea.
Hard to say really. I kind of doubt it, but they don't think the same way we do. A high percentage of the citizens in North Korea are starving and probably wouldn't care what their little dictator decided to do.
No. We will begin to see changes to lesson sanctions. If China is no longer blocking sanctions at every turn. Then the demise will be sooner or later for the regime without war. We also must remember that technology is expensive. It is not that they cannot provide what they need it is that they are losing the battle such that information is beginning to flow in and out of the country. So we will begin to see "Arab Spring" or "USSR" implosions there quickly.
If there was a North/South struggle the people of the North would fight for food. Those of the South for freedom. Hungry people have a tendency to switch sides. Starving people make horrible soldiers.
While westerners are struggling with the realities of our current conditions the "Dream" still sells to those with no rights. There is no longer an Eastern Block that will support the North like the last civil war.
I think that little pipsqueak that they have as dictator is stupid enough to try it. If and when he does I hope that we are able to turn back those missiles right back to him so that he can light up pyongyang.
Really? You want to mass destroy millions of starving people? I had never thought of that as an alternative.
The North Koreans are not the target, however, his army certainly will carry out what he wishes so the average, starving North Korean is stuck.
I'm not quite sure what you're asking here - your title includes the words "would risk a nuclear attack on the US" - did you mean "by the US?" or were you referring to a nuclear attack by North Korea ON the US? In your explanatory paragraph you seem to be talking about a conventional war. In any case, the fact that these "rogue nations" have (or in the case of Iran, will soon have) nuclear weapons makes the case for the US to accelerate the deployment of a comprehensive, missile defense system. I have always maintained that the strongest deterrent against nuclear attack is a defensive missile system that causes the attacker not to know how many warheads will get through and which targets will be hit and which will not, thus utterly confounding his plans. I wrote a hub about called "The Case for Missile Defense" if you want to know more (I know, shameless promotion!)

I heard this yesterday and today.http://www.kansascity.com/2010/07/23/21 … ponse.htmlDoes N.Korea really understand what will happen to them if they Nuke our Navy? And what do you think should be our response to a Military strike against our navy by N.Korea?

I'm struggling to keep up with all this. Is Trump really planning to attack North Korea if they do another nuclear test? Is it seriously being considered as a possibility? Or is it just sabre rattling? And is this type of brinksmanship the best approach to foreign policy?

Every day I refresh my "North Korea" search on Goolge news, but always the same ol' story. "North Korea threatens to attack bla bla bla...". I wonder will leader Kim Jong Un actually do carry out any of his proposed threats. Possibly he is just talking the talk as to strengthen...
