If secret lawmaking is SOP, do you live in an illusion of democracy?
The TPP fails to “protect nationhood rights by prohibiting special corporate courts through Investor State Dispute Settlement (ISDS) provisions.” No matter what claims are made regarding side deals and “progressive” language, a trade agreement that allows secretive “dispute resolution” along lines that overwhelmingly favor multinational corporations undermines rather than strengthens worker rights and environmental protections.
I think you have a very interesting concern here. But I have this major concern in your characterization: "If you know about it how is it secret?"
Your direct question speaks of secrecy yet your attached comment speaks of specific knowledge. Enough of that.
One time I was "retained" in a "socialist country" to make deals happen with another such country. I got there on a plane filled with US State Department folks. On the flight the Berlin wall "came down" and we flew over construction of the "fence" between Tijuana and San Diego.
The concept of multinational corporations and basic human rights is found in principal here: http://www.un.org/en/universal-declarat … an-rights/ Everyone should know it and their own Declaration of Rights.
The deal made between a multinational and a socialist regimes is spicy and dicey. For instance the art can change completely between Mexico and Vietnam or Hong Kong as opposed to Mainland. Nabisco as opposed to Chevron. The bottom line of the deal does not change. Trade agreements work just fine as long as they do not interfere too much. Does the deal benefit the constituent (citizens or stockholders).
(Of course there is some corruption and bribery - get over it, it is like taxes)
That was intended to be rambling. There are a thousand different tangents to go off on here. My intent was to show that it is not black and white.

What else can you call it when every Democrat in the Wisconsin legislature got on a bus and headed out of state to avoid a vote on the Governor's budget? This is turning into a war between tax payers and the unions.http://www.greenbaypressgazette.com/art … supporters
