Gun control is not the answer. Half the gun deaths are from suicides. Shouldn't they be trying to lower the suicide rate, not only from guns, but other methods. What about the war on drugs, those drugs may contribute to the suicide rate. What about reducing gang criminal activity, and trying to figure out why we have 2 million people in jails and prisons, and we still have major crimes in the country.
What about modernizing the electrical grid, capturing more water in arid states, and stopping flooding in other states. How about protecting us when we are on the Internet. Being the victim of a crime on the Internet should have the same protection as when it occurs in the street.
With the presidential election a short time from now, what about all the other issues that need to be discussed. The economy, the terrorists, bringing jobs back to the US, controlling the super global monopolies, the financial industry and the list goes on.
What about changing the rules so that active members of the government must resign if they want to campaign and do fund raisers for their party. Changing once again the election finance rules.
In short, they are not doing their job, and they are wasting time with red herrings. Gun control is not the answer to any problem, enforcing the existing gun control laws is a problem, and one that was caused by the congress in toto.
Banning guns doesn't stop Muslims who want to kill you from doing so.
See the machete wielding mobs in Pakistan and Bangladesh who've killed several dozen high profile atheists in the past two years.
See the Muslim mobs that killed about 80 Christians in an Egyptian town for daring to say we want to build a church. All they needed were machetes, metal rods and torches.
Taking away guns didn't prevent mass rapes in Europe on New Years Eve 2016. But taking away guns does leave women more vulnerable to assaults, especially when police won't protect you.

Good points. In addition, with 330 million people in the US and probably as many guns real threat is criminals&suicides. Mass shootings would not register. horrific not numerous. Big problem suicides, and drug use, what are they doing about that?

Beto O'Ruarke put it out there, center stage:"Hell Yes we're going to take your guns away, your Ar-15s, your AK-47s . . ."Regardless of how you feel about the issue of "assault " rifles, how do you think this will sit with non-progressive and anti-gun citizens?A couple of...

It has become so tiresome seeing all of the radicals on both sides of the Gun Control issue, eacn proposing some "master plan" to control the sale of guns in America. Why can't we do this in "baby steps"?For instance, assault rifles! Just tell me who can justify owning an...

What are your thoughts on gun control? With the recent mass shooting in Oregon, it makes me think that there needs to be better gun control laws. "But criminals are still going to break laws and get guns, so you're really just controlling law-abiding citizens" ... maybe, but how many of...

The federal government could declare a state of emergency and post at least 2 well trained, armed personnel, either police or military, within our public schools. Gunmen attack soft targets. They like to assault "gun free zones." I believe 20 years of wrangling over...

Okay so another guy dresses up like The Joker and kills people. I will resist the urge to state how bizarre and coincidental that is and stick to the question. The media is intent on showing Americans all the LEGAL gun killings they can while not informing us about the countless lives that are...

The man is an idiot. There is a huge difference between illegal guns being obtained and used to in a criminal act that kills people and ripping a living human being from a woman's body. What do you say is the solution? More gun laws? The parts of the country with the most gun laws like...
