I enjoy writing on gardening topics like tomato growing tips like hanging tomatoes for those without the space for a garden.  I spend a great deal of time gardening, in spite of the fact that Texas can be a tough place to raise vegetables. I like to collect garden gadgets of all sorts, like upside down tomato planters, and raised bed garden kits.  I also like to write reviews about things like compost tumblers, portable fire pits, and other gardening tools that I've had the time to take a look at.

Related to gardening and backyard living, I've started to put some bird feeders in the back yard, and enjoy trying to attract birds to them.  Unfortunately it looks like I'll need to invest in some squirrel proof bird feeders with all the uninvited guests that show up at my suet bird feeders and other birding items I've got hanging around the yard. With the economy in the state it is over the last several months, I've decided that spending more time in the yard is a low cost way to enjoy myself, and so have taken to writing some articles on birding and gardening.

Over the years I've spent more time than I should studying investing, and trying to find things like the best mutual funds and how to trade them. I enjoy writing on varous investing topics as well. It's easy to make money when the markets are up, but when it gets choppy it's tough to stay in.

Recently I'm spending more time looking for home improvement tips so I can save a little money adding some personal touches to the house and yard like building in improvements from bookcase plans and the like as the house ages not so gracefully at times, and the deferred maintenance starts to catch up with us. This provides a lot of material to write on, but I wish I were handier with stuff around the house.  But it's always interesting to learn about a topic, and if I learn enough I'll write about it.

The great thing about Hubpages is that it lets you write articles about whatever you like, so I also write about some things that have nothing to do with this stuff. There's plenty of topics to explore out there, ranging from broad topics like health issues to narrow niches like Fort Worth Catholic Schools.
