Besides of obvious reasons that accountants can typically get well-paid jobs even during economic downturns, people study accounting because they have a knack for numbers. Understanding accounting means to understand a great about how the economy works and what the role of an individual in an economy can be.

Studying accounting means that one can take more control over one's finances that people without a basic understanding of accounting.

However, despite these advantages, all successful accountants I know have a passion for the field that goes way beyond monetary advantages. Accounting resonates within persons who are successfull in the profession.
