   Hello, this is probably my first time on hubpages; should I say goodbye with the given details?
   
   I commend your response on the topic of "How to tell an old friend goodbye."I have a friend that we've used to be best friends;our friendship started in the beginning of middle school and we've had the joyous times of our lives.Until 3 years later,we had multiple arguments.It lead to a spaced-out friendship(took 10mos. till we actually acknowledged the situation).Basically,I believe I was the cause of the dis-functioned friendship and I do want to end it not because of him,but b/c of me.If I do this,it would seem awkward for senior year yet I feel it would relieve if I did. What should I do?

   Friendships sometimes fall apart because people grow in different ways. You say you feel responsible for the problems in your friendship, but it may also be true that you have acted in "dysfunctional" ways as a response to anxiety you feel over your friend's choices and actions.
   In any case, if you feel that ending the friendship would be a relief, it's probably the right choice. In my experience, people often shift and change friendships in senior year. There is, therefore, a good chance you and your friend would no longer hang out as seniors anyway, especially since you are already feeling uncomfortable. People grow a lot as seniors. Many people get jobs, apply for college, and generally take steps towards independent adulthood. It's a time for putting yourself out there. Good luck!
