   Actually, I think that most religions have a great deal in common when it comes to "rules" for living.  Most religions have an agreement on "good behavior".  In my opinion, this gives credence to the verse from the Christian Bible:
   
   Hebrews 10:16
   "This is the covenant I will make with them after that time, says the Lord. I will put my laws in their hearts, and I will write them on their minds."
   
   God's laws are in our hearts- this is why there is commonality in most religious "rules".

   The division comes in "who" we ascribe our faith to.  Who is our god?
   
   Christians ascribe faith in  "God and Christ":
   Colossians 2:2
   "My purpose is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ"
   
   About Christ as God
   
   Colossians 1:15-20
   "He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. 18And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy. For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross".
   
   Confusion comes when we have similar rules for behavior and the world concludes service to the same god(s) based on this.
   
   This is really where there is a parting of the ways- for many hold to a faith and belief in the Christian God- but many discount who Christ was.
   
   This is where the difference truly lies- but not in rules for living a decent life.  Most religions will have very good rules for human behavior.

   I agree with Bayareagreatthing that the rules really aren't that different. For instance the Golden Rule is present in all of the religions:

   The details do differ of course, but that seems a cultural thing. For instance, in Roman Catholicism there is Lent, but not every Catholic practices it these days. the practice of fasting has become more individual these days. Similarly there are religious holidays in Buddhism too that involve fasting. Muslims have a whole month of fasting during the day (ramadan).
   
   The details vary among religions, and even locally, but the idea is the same.
