How To Accessorize, Best Tips for Women and Men

Updated on July 11, 2017

Matching is important

I believe that accessories are important with any outfit. I think men and women should use accessories to express who they are as an individual. It doesn't matter if you are married, single, or dating, accessories are very important. I love to accessorize and I do whether I am at work or just goofing around. But I sometimes can go crazy in adding to many accessories. After much research and thought regarding “how to accessorize” I realized that others may need this information too.

Below are the accessories that I use on a daily basis.

  1. Scarves for hair or neck
  2. Long Necklaces
  3. Bold Earrings
  4. Hats (for men and women)
  5. Sunglasses
  6. Colorful Briefcases

The pictures show the classics of some styles that never go out of style. For example, chokers are always in style if you use them correctly. Chokers are great as an accessory but make sure it’s for the right occasion when using a choker. When I wear a large necklace, then I pair it with small earrings. Remember, too much maybe gaudy.

A safe bet for any casual occasion is the black turtleneck with the pearl earrings, it’s classy. When it comes to shoes, I have my staple pairs; black pumps, red plumps, high black boots, flip flops and ugg boots. All women should have these style shoes at all times. It is vital to have these accessories. If you don’t have a pair of red open toe shoes, go buy them today! Red is bold but beautiful and all women should own a pair.

Scarves, hats and hair accessories can make women look incredibly sexy. Plus, sometimes we just look so darn cute in these accessories. Look at the pictures and use the items correctly. I use a long scarf as a belt for my jeans and I always get compliments. I prefer long hair for me, however, whether you have long hair or short, use hair accessories to make it sassier (or add some flare to your outfit). Hats are just fun, I wear baseball hats the most. I put my hair in a ponytail, in the baseball hat and put on big loop earrings and then sunglasses (then I don’t have to wear make up). Oh, and you can use the hair accessories on your cute little dogs too, so very cute.

Last item, I put scarves on my purses, just to add a little accessory to my purses. I change the scarves out about every other month and it makes me feel like I have a new purse (well sort of). I recommend you try one accessory listed above and see if you don’t feel different.

Jackets and Coats

Facial hair

Men, listen up, because scarves are awfully sexy on men. In fact, if you use your accessories right, it can make you oh so cool. Scarves can be worn loosely around the neck or around a coat collar, but it does add flash to any outfit.

Be very careful with hats. You want them to enhance your look, not take away from it. An old classic is the baseball hat, if fitted correctly; they just look good on most men.

I think a timeless outfit is the white t-shirt and the black leather jacket, it’s classy and cool. This style never goes out of style. It is an ageless outfit for men, no doubt. Coats and Jackets can be a fantastic accessory for men if used properly. Review the pictures and try to do the same, I realize we aren’t movie stars but similar coats do exist.

Facial hair can be a startling accessory for men. Yes, facial hair. I think changing your look is a good thing. Try a beard, or mustache or goatee. You don’t know until you try it, right? Accessories for men are available and you should try some, it adds flare and fun to any outfit.

There is an overabundance of accessories out in the market place. I suggest that you see what you like and what works for your style. Sometimes it’s exciting (yet, scary) to step out of our box and have a different look. Take the opportunity to express yourself and your style through all the accessories available today.
