Would anyone have any ideas why videos won't play on a Windows 7 PC despite which browser is used?

We have asked techs at various businesses, and no-one has been able to solve this mystery yet. We don't have any ad blocking software, yet we occasionally receive that message. We use a lot of the same browsers, settings, and software on an XP machine and don't have any issues with this there. We can get some videos to start playing on the Windows 7 PC, but then they absolutely refuse to finish. Any new ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Some types of video have to have  plug ins and updated software to run on all the new operating systems. Some even require an emulator just depends on what types of video.

I think it is not windows 7 issue as I use windows 7 and browser videos work.

Check up your videos outside the browser in a windows media player or Real player. If they still don't work, you need appropriate codecs to be installed.

If they work outside the browser, but not in the browser, then check windows security settings. Internet Explorer->Tools->internet options->check settings under multimedia so that the boxes for sound and media on browser are in checked position. (please note that many internet options are applicable for the windows in general and not just for IE)

If the videos are working halfway, may be the codecs are not up to date.

Also check the settings of fire wall (windows internal as well as any external firewall application) incase the problem is specific to some websites.

Hope this helps. All the best.

improper codec, or SQL injection would be my best guess...

update all video codecs, and while your at it, update your flash player and turn off any weird browser security settings that may be effecting your access to the flash sites that are causing you problems. Your isp connection can be unstable and dropping connection, this can also happen with your nic card for your local computer or the router needs to be replaced/rebooted.

Better install the latest version of Divx.
It is available in free downloads.I think problem may be with the type of file not because of windows 7.
Actually windows 7 will try to play divx files also.
Any way install the latest video and audio codec from Divx, and this will be the solution

I found a similar problem on my Win7. I discovered it was my fault. In my zeal to rid myself of the flawed Java7.11 I disable java in my router. Some how this caused my flash player to stop working. On a Flash test screen it says either it will display what version of flash is installed or will display an error... mine displayed a blank test screen. After resetting my router all videos play (except for ad blocked ones).
