Do you think that building the turbojet powered supersonic concord was a waste of money?
When we look at the economy now, and then at the waste of money some company wasted, we just have to wonder, how did we get to this stage......
I think as far as experimenting with what can be done, mistakes are worth millions. Though as far as it being a waste when it comes to usefulness, price and time taken to build it, YES, it was a total waste, lol.
Though from what I understand, there are newer, cheaper, more effective supersonic planes coming out soon, which might make the concord mistake seem like a little bit less of a waste...
The concord is a REALLY cool aircraft, and I'll give it that. I definitely think it was a waste of money however. Maybe hindsight is 20/20 but it doesn't seem like it would have taken much to predict the FAA's sonic boom regulations. If it wasn't for those regulations I'm sure concords would be at least somewhat more common. Being able to travel that fast from place to place has it's advantages.
Sure, if we had reached any groundbreaking research it would have been cool..but it didn't.
I guess think of it like a Mercedes showing off all the new features. Sure they've been around here and there, but it's like a compilation. That's how I see the concord.
It is all about research to find a better solution at lower cost. The spending on research tends to be huge but hopefully the breakthrough will help us to save in a long run.

Why are there so many churches? In a neighboring city there is a population of 9000 and there are 126 churches. Isn't this excessive and a waste of money(for the rents and building costs)? What's the point in having so many.
