    Do you think the Facebook fan page feature is beneficial?

    It depends. The boycott BP page received over 1 million likes, created tons of press coverage, organized protests and I think influenced the perception of, and reaction of,  one of the richest companies in the world. That page was huge, literally.

    howlermunkey's fan page, on the other hand , has 5 likes lol.

    So I guess, if your question is, beneficial to hubpages, I think it can be, but has to be built like everything else.

    If you are marketing your business online, then it is beneficial. However, it depends on how you implement it. Many online businesses have ended up spending on social media marketing; facebook fan page being one of them, but it has ended up being a liability to the whole business.

    If you cannot carry out online marketing, then hire a professional who will do it right for you.

    As a business a Facebook Fan Page is only useful it it ADDS VALUE to its Fans AND, in many cases, if you can Capture the Fans Details to market to them using email and other methods.

    At the end of the day a Fan is someone who follows you with varying levels of 'frenzy' from a one off 'stop by' to a 'can't go a day without you'.

    From a business point of view you would clearly prefer the latter and therefore you need to work out what do you have that your prospects, customers and fans would go out of their way to get and use on a regular basis.

    When you have done this (and it will be different for every business) then you have a beneficial fan page.
