How do you feel about splitting water into hydrogen and oxygen to be used as a fuel ?
With modern technology, water can be split to produce fuel in the form of hydrogen. Many believe that with the right catalyst, water can be split with a certain frequency with no problem. For those who remember the commercial on TV, Memorex broke a wine glass with some one singing, then asked the question if it was real or Memorex. Frequency can break the bonds that hold compounds together, like the wine glass. So it can be water, also. This could create jobs and wealth, while breaking others. So how do you feel about this ?I've heard of it. The economy in Texas would entirely shatter. Most all of the jobs here are with oil companies. But I do agree that it would be better for the environment and I would be interested if it would be a safer process.
It's not an immediate answer but it is one of the answers and probably has the greatest known potential of them all. Hydrogen can be separated from water by electrolysis using electricity from renewable sources. Hydrogen can be used to power vehicles the problem, as I understand it, is that hydrogen has a low output of energy, much less than gasoline.
We may be leaving the era of crude oil and coal but not for several years. In the meantime we need to maximize our natural gas usage. We have accidentally cleaned up the environment more by using natural gas to co-generate electricity than anyone could have imagined.
Science will eventually figure how to increase the hydrogen energy yield or design radically more efficient motors. It won't happen tomorrow but the research should be going full throttle today. Just as when America changed from coal oil to crude oil, an unfettered economy can move workers from one job field to another without serious consequence.
