      I see. I had a classmate who died few months ago and I was thinking of removing him from my list, but you're right, I should keep him out of respect. Thanks for answering, Jeff.

   It is not a right thing, to unfriend our deceased facebook. Because, the account will serve as a memory of our friendship, and our journey with them.

      It seems that majority of the comments here are against unfriending our deceased Facebook friends. Thank you for helping me realize what counts most even if our friends are already gone through your answer, Sai.

      A friendship is a friendship, whether our friends exists in our world or not. But, keeping their memories, always counts. So, Don't remove him from your list.

   I've only had to go thru this experience once, with a family friend. I didn't even think about "un-friending" him from Facebook, I assumed that eventually one of his relatives would take the page down.
   However, the last time I checked, his Facebook page was still up and occasionally his daughter will still post on it on meaningful days (his birthday, Father's Day, etc.), which is kind of nice to see.

      I had a teacher who died years ago and I immediately unfriended him on Facebook. Lately, I also had a classmate who died, I didn't remove him from my friends list because if I do, I will no longer have something of him. He was a very good person then

   Their pages are usually kept as memorials for loved ones to share memories and pictures.

   There is a way for a family member or designee to 'lock' the Facebook page so no more entries can be made on the page.  My boyfriend's sister did that to his page a little over a year after he died.  My mother passed away this June and I will 'lock' her page after the one-year anniversary of her death.
   As to whether or not one should delete a deceased friend's Facebook page, I would say that is a highly personal decision.  For many people, keeping the page is out of respect and serves as a memorial to their friend.  They can look back if they wish and revisit (hopefully) happier times.
   For others, the pain of the loss may be too much to bear.  The Facebook page may serve as a reminder of something tragic or unpleasant.  There may be happier memories and other ways to remember their deceased friends.
   Whatever decision you make, think about it for a while before acting on it.  If necessary, write down the pros and cons of keeping your deceased friend on your Friends list.  When you make your decision, it will be just that - yours.  There is no right or wrong.  It's what is best for you and what helps you move through the grief process and continue your healing after the loss of your friend.  Blessings and condolences to you.

   I keep them on my page as a memorial. We also post their on special occasions.
