   How often do unknown people on the street ask you for  directions?
   
   Lately, I am asked for directions almost every time I leave my home. Strange.

   It would depend on where you live! If you live in a city where there are several tourists or that is rather large, the chances of being asked for directions are much greater than if you lived in a farm town!

   I agree with Cassi03.
   ......but there are some people who would ask for direction even if the place is right under their eyes.

   It happens quite often. Even when walking around Barcelona I got asked because for some strange reason these people thought I was a local.

   very often! and happened that in stores people also asked me where to search for different items...

   Often but I normally can't help as I don't know the direction to the particular place myself!  I'd say, 'sorry can't help but that supermarket or store might be able to help'.
   
   It's understandable as some times it's difficult finding the place when using a map especially if it's a street tucked away within another street.
