Why we Love Our British Bulldog Puppy
The Cutest British bulldog puppy ever!
Welcome to our page about our British bulldog puppy. Follow little Belles journey with her new family. And all her adventures, where I share information on raising a puppy and lots of pictures of her and our other big dogs with you.
We named her Belle after the Disney princess character from Beauty and the Beast, because we thought is so appropriate, as she is just so cute. She also has earned the nickname Stinker- Belle.
Boy can she empty a room with her unique aroma. We also have 2 large dog breeds a ,Dogue de Bordeaux Molly who is 2 and Roxy a bullmastiff who is 5, and we always wanted one more dog to finish off our family.
So when we saw this little beauty we just knew we had to have her.

Bulldogs - Barron's Complete Pet Owner's Manuals
As with all our dogs we have bought and read about the specific breed. As with all dogs, care is important, but when you have pedigree bred dogs, sometimes ther are general health problems to that sepcific breed you need to be aware of an look out for.
We love Our British Bulldog Puppy Belle. No wonder the British nation love and have adopted this type of dog as a symbol of their Nation.
Bulldog puppies are just so cute and cuddly, it is hard to imagine that they were originally bred for the cruel and ferocious "bull baiting" sport popular in the 1800s.
Thankfully Bull-baiting was outlawed in 1835, and luckily, although the demand for these Bulldogs diminished, someone saw fit to keep this breed alive and well. They were adopted by the Gentlemen of Great Britain as gamekeeper dogs. This meant that the breed had to be of a certain standard for the Gentle folk of the English country, meaning time and effort was put into defining a fantastic breed.
The British Bulldog is indeed one of the highest breed standards around the world today, however with the popularity of the breed growing, so does interest, and demand.
Bulldog puppies are very cute, but you must realize these dogs, have very specific requirements and should only be bought if you are dedicated to preserving the breed, not as a "status"
Introducing our new puppy to the Big doggies
to the other dogs....
To be honest we did take a gamble bringing another dog into the house, however the bulllmastiff and bourdeaux are that laid back they are horizontal, we have looked after many of our friends dogs when they went on holiday so we knew that accepting another dog into their home would be no problem, however it was the fact that our dogs were so set in their ways, would a hyperactive little puppy upset their karma?
Roxy the bull mastiff is "mum" and she was quick to let puppy know what would be tolerated, to be honest the puppy is a very quick learner and as you can see by the photos of them eating their first meal together, Puppy learned quickly!
The Best Food for A bulldog Puppy - ...what is the best food for your bulldog puppy?
These breeds can have all sorts of problems, from digestive to skin complaints, and just like humans "you are what you eat" and to be honest we let the dog tell us if they are happy with their food, but all our dogs have been given a great start and I personally recommend Royal canin puppy food, they specialise in creating a balanced diet for these kind of dogs.
I will say it again, feed them crap, and don't expect NOT to have health problems, give them a great start with Royal Canin, my favourite for all my dogs. I also add in some cooked Tripe I get from our local butchers which I boil and use the juice to moisten the dry food, to give it some added appeal!
Belle settles in with the other dogs!
she loves a cuddle and sitting on the other dogs!
Belle came to us with a crate, our mastiff was crate trained our Dogue De Bordeaux wasn't. this was although the mastiff was trained specifically by the crate method and her behaviour was great, she was the leader of the pack and was the boss.
So the other dogs would follow her lead. Although we did not use the specific crate training method for the other dogs, starting properly with the mastiff paved the way for well behaved and trained dogs.
We decided to put the crate in the kitchen and leave it open so Belle could go in it if she wanted...It is important for any of the dogs to have somewhere to "go" if they want to be alone or hide out, we find when they are in heat they prefer the comfort of the crate and its surroundings. So although we never close the crate door we still keep it.
Large Dog Beds
We just cant seperate these 2! and would find them huddled in the smaller dogs bed, so we bought a lovely big huge comfy bed! And they love it
Bulldog Signs - be a responsible owner
Being a responsible Owner of Bulldogs is an important issue, in today's society many people get these types of "bulldogs" as a status dog, for the look of them, by default we have ended up with these dogs because people have bought them as puppies and soon realise there is more to these Bull Breeds than meets the eye. They have a very domineering personality and you need to be confident when dealing with them. I like to think they have a "cheeky" personality and will give you back cheek in the form of a small bark, they are very stubborn! VERY stubborn, I am not joking if they do not want to do something they just wont do it! However if they are given the proper training right from the start, there should be no problems, however training must be regular, the whole family has to decided on ONE set of rules....
When visitors come to the house it can be a bit overwhelming to have 2 large dogs and now we have a third running toward them. I
have signs up to make people aware
A. what type of dog I have
and
B as a security measure too.
I suggest to anyone with Dogs you alert people that they are on your property.
Keep your Dog busy with Bones and Toys
Funny Picture of Bulldog Puppy
Belle is so cute, when she does not want to come inside, even though it is raining she just lays all flat out, and does not move....not even for a treat, nothing just waits flat out! Waiting on you to give up first....I have to call the other dogs in and only then when she realises I am closing the door will she move.
The Bulldog Is renowned for being stubborn, in fact as Belle has grown if she does not want to go for a walk, she just lays down on the ground and nothing will budge her, luckily she does not do this too often, usually when there are visitors in the house, and she does not want to miss something
Notes from mom
AWhhh......Bulldogs are so Cute and cheeky
Character: cheeky, very cheeky, in fact I don't think I have ever met a cheekier dog!.
Very clever, it takes her once to work something out. Like sit before she gets a treat! Shown once!
and extremely easily trained. However. She has her own mind and knows what she wants. So that means if she does not want to do it she won't.
Very manipulative, puts back her ears and gives you that awesome look, that just melts your heart.
Known as a "bully" I can see this as she tries to work out with my other 2 dogs, who is boss. (which is the mastiff, she keeps order in the house) but even she is a little softer on the puppy, which is kind of cute.)
She does indeed Bulldoze things, puts her head down and pushes her bowl around when she is hungry or having a carry on she will bulldoze the bed through the house.
Exercise: Remember their little bones need to develop so lots of walking is generally out. Just now we walk her 3 short walks a day, this is to help with toilet training, and to getting used to going out on the lead. Although she is very active puppy around the house and will follow you around or chase the other dogs around, she actually does not like leaving the house and will lie down and take some coaching to get outside, once outside she loves it and walks tall beside her sisters. I think she looks outside and thinks too cold/wet out there...
She loves chasing the ball and trying to fetch, just now she just stands over the ball once she has found it waiting on you to walk to her and pick it up and throw it again...see clever!
Feeding: I do not even need to talk about food, apart from, she will eat anything, and has to be fed after our other 2 dogs, She becomes very excitable and will eat anything, from my plants, to the leaves blowing around the garden, and I have found her playing with a slug! SO you need to be watchful over puppy at this stage. Feed your bulldog puppy a good quality meal. We use the Canin Puppy specially for the breed. you need to remember that these dogs are bred with specific, if you put rubbish into them then don't expect to have a healthy dog, It drives me nuts to think people feed their dogs the cheapest option available! It is wrong, these dogs can have so many health issues help it and give it a fair chance, would you eat crap?

WARNING:British Bulldogs Puppies for Sale
I can't believe that they actually have a scam for this, but they do. I can also understand why it has come about, British Bulldogs are a very high standard breed, and recently even more highly sought after, huge demand and very limited supply (which is good as it keeps control of the breed) Although people will capitalizes on that need.
We did indeed spend nearly 1 year, searching back and forth for a bulldog puppy near enough for us to travel comfortably with a puppy. So this is not just about deciding one day, to get a puppy, then a day or so later you have one. this takes preparation and planning.
The Scam: You search for British Bulldog puppies on Google and up pops the most gorgeous puppy ever, you click on the picture, it takes you to an advertising site. Where you can ONLY email your details. They ask all sorts of Questions, where you live, phone number etc...etc..)
You fill out the form and then they ask you for your details, as the bulldog puppy with be "transported" to you? I would NOT be filling out that form!
When we were searching for out bulldog puppy we came across countless adverts like this or similar, in fact if you search further the same pictures of the puppies keep popping up. So
Where you will be able to meet the puppy, and meet mum or dad of the pup.
Do not fall for the we only use our own animal carrier company?
Please only go to a reputable breeder. the best place to start is the Kennel Club, all pure breed dogs are bred to a specific standard and they will give you the right information and list of breeders in your area
I hope they find and stop these people!
