    Because many think it's a food safety issue.  However it is a much bigger concern if it means that people are eating the brain, spinal cord, bone marrow and eyes of cattle infected with BSE.  Other meats, especially those from muscle (as that is where 99% of our meat comes from), do not contain prions that will infect a person with CJD, therefore beef food safety for humans shouldn't be made such a big deal of, as you asked.

    It's kinda complicated, I know.
