    Actually they don't...fish take in their needed moisture through the food they eat and, if they don't get enough, can become dehydrated and die because none of the water is reaching their internal organs. This is yet another reason why it's so important to give aquarium fish an assortment of foods...flakes don't carry much water at all, whereas live/frozen, pelleted, and freeze-dried foods do (the latter two soak up water quickly when dropped in the tank).
