How long do I need to wait before handling my mother hamster? she is my little baby and I take...
her out of the cage every day and let her run around on me until she had babies. She is a Russian Dwarf hamster and it has been 8 days since she gave birth. She is climbing on the cage chewing on the metal bars and I do not want her to hurt herself or the babies. I feel so bad watching her go crazy and I have been successful with keeping the babies alive considering I feed her twice a day and change her water any time I see there is bedding or food in her dish. I also have a water bottle very low toward the bottom of the cage so When the babies are ready they can reach it if they don't drink f
i think you need to wait until the baby hamster's fur has grown and it could run about already then either u seperate the baby hamster(give friends or sell or wad) or else u put it in the same cage. Mine too my father hamster kept biting the metal bars. Its syrian hamster. The mother just gave birth on 20th March

My dwarf hamster just had babies yesterday. Today, she brought two of them out of the nest, made...a nest somewhere else and left them there ... she stays in the first nest with about 4 babies, but there are two babies alone in the second nest. I am worried!
