What do dogs see in the mirror?
Do they recognize themselves as dogs in the mirror or see something else?
Everything I have ever read by the 'experts' say NO, dogs can only see 3 in dimensions. However, when I watch the Westminster Dog Show on TV, I know my dog can see the TV because even with the sound off, she will approach the tv to look at the dogs. If she can see the tv, then she can see herself in the mirror. She may think it is another dog at first but will realize herself within seconds.
Funny thing to have me ask this question.
My puppy until about 4-5 months months ago has never really looked into the mirror. So when I moved into my new house, he would constantly stare and bark at the mirror, not knowing he was looking at himself. About a month later, he just stopped barking at the mirror but would look at it and into it, but i would never know why he stared at the mirror.
