My cat constantly throws up, help?

He's been doing it for years, I took him to a vet who basically said there was no physical reason for it and to try changing his food. So I went to a specialty pet food store and they recommended a grain free diet. It worked-- for a little bit, but he is still occasionally vomitting.

Cats tend to throw up a lot. Sometimes it's hairballs. If he only does it occasionally and not on a daily basis, I would not suspect his food. Since you've had him checked by your vet, I wouldn't worry about it too much, unless there is blood, or something else odd, in the vomit. I have a cat that throws up quite often too and is not sick.

That's what I thought, but my parents are sick of him throwing up everywhere and want to get rid of him.. Thanks for the answer, relieved to know that other cats do this

Yeah, I've never had a cat but I do know that they do throw up a lot so don't worry it's probably not your pet food.

My cat throws up and I used to worry about it, too. I found over the years that it is caused by hairballs. He tends to clean himself a lot. At times I've noticed clumps of hair that he would throw up.The hair makes it hard to keep the food down.

I wouldn't worry about it if everything else seems normal. Sometimes I add a small amount of butter to his food. It will help clean the hair out and keep the food down. My cat loves the butter, too.

wwolfs brings up a common reason they throw up. Sometimes they don't throw up the hairball right away...they can throw up for a couple of days and then finally get the hairball out. The butter is a great idea (I use that too).
