Why does my dog pant in the cold?

Its been really hot lately so I understand that, but my room is freezing and I have her in there purposely for the panting. It seems that no matter how cold it is, she remains hot.

Dogs can also pant when they are upset or anxious, or after they have ran around. Also, make sure your dog has plenty of fresh water, as they can pant when thirsty as well.

Open-mouth breathing can also be a symptom of some lung problems. If you feel she is panting excessively you should take her to your local veterinarian and have her lungs auscultated (listened to with a stethoscope) to rule out any early pathology. Without listening to her lungs, no one can tell you for sure that this is just a behavioral issue.
