Demon Art: Drawing A Random Demon Creature

Updated on August 18, 2009

Sketching A Demonic Creature

Today I thought I would just draw something, anything without any planning or anything like that, just a random drawing that I did on my flip camera, of course it is a demonic creature of some kind, as to what exactly, just something I thought of on the spot, for some reason I had an image of a swordfish in my head and so I just tried to incorporate that single thought into this spontaneous demon drawing, even though that sword sort of changed into a beak of some kind.

For those of you who have read some of my other drawing hubs, you probably know that I seem to draw the same or similar fantasy stuff, but one thing that I recommend you try and do is to draw straight away without any idea what you want to draw, because this is a brilliant exercise as you can then discover how to draw on request and that is a great skill to acquire, particularly when you can make money off your creative side of art by impressing people by delivering their art requests right in front of them.

There are two videos, the first one just sees me drawing the shape of the creature in pencil and building up what it could look like and the second one is me inking the demon creature drawing with a medium tip sharpie marker pen and darkening the areas that need to recede and the parts that need to be brought forward like the teeth and the eye.

There is no sound to the video as I did not want to distract from the sketching with me getting carried away or stuttering through it

      Thanks there PJ!

I just enjoyed doing this one as I drew what came to mind and not what I had planned through some preliminary sketching, which I usually do.

This is really inspirational. Thank you for capturing the process on film. This is a great way to think outside of the box with drawing.
