Should it stay black and white or color?
color! i usually prefer black and white ..but color works better for this illustration, i think

I like the color better, but it is up to the creator of the work ultimately how to present it.

What materials were used in creating this?
card stock paper, and charcoal pencils for the black and white and just regular color pencils and a black pen to outline the drawing
I like the colour one better than the charcoal one.
