Which artist would you like to paint your portrait?
Mine would be Christian Schad.
Got to be Jim Burns, Science fiction, fantasy artists.
Oooo... it's gotta be Vincent Van Gogh. He used such vivid colours in his work. Contours were important to him, as was balance and composition. Curves and lines were accentuated by his energetic strokes. Excellent painter.
Andrew Wyeth! Or Vermeer -- two of my favorites for sure! Love the Helga series! Love the Girl with a Pearl EArring, which incidently is a fantastic movie starring recent academy award winning actor Colin Firth. Movie gives lots of incite into how Vermeer saw the world, and his techniques. Love his glazing technique. And someone should make amovie about the whole Helga story, kind of intriguing. Who was she? Why did Andrew Wyeth keep painting her -- over 250 paintings of her -- what was it about her that he found so fascinating. Of course looking at the paintings and can see why -- she seems like an old fairy tale come to life. Or maybe he just made her seem that way. Artists see things in people that other people don't see.
