Where have your feet been lately?

We are so busy these days - where are we going?  Why are we there? Have you ever thought of this?

Good question. Something I've asked of myself from time to time. Sometimes I don't know if I'm coming or going because I'm being pulled in different directions. I guess when we find ourselves in this situation, we should to stop and refocus. Take a breather and relax. Do something we enjoy. Life is too short.

My feet just came back from a walk through an oak forest with a creek running next to the road. They stood and waited while I took pictures of the trees and the creek. they enjoyed moving me to where I wanted to go.

They've also been up and down the stairs a lot today as I did my chores.

Earlier in the week they went to the center of county government and took me to the podium and waited while I spoke out to our county supervisors, urging them to kill a proposed ordinance that would make people have to get a permit to exercise freedom of speech and assembly on county property. They later took me around a buffet at a restaurant where my husband and I celebrated that the supervisors listened to us and about twenty other speakers and decided to send the ordinance back to the drawing board to address our concerns. After lunch my feet took me around to shop at Costco.

My feet stay busy taking me where I need to go in life. Sometimes that's to church to renew my spirit and try to encourage others. Sometimes it's to government meetings to try to urge officials to do the right thing to defend personal liberties. Sometimes it's to Studios on the Park to see how creative our local art community can be. Mostly, though, my feet take me on my daily rounds to do my daily chores that sustain life for myself and my husband and keep us in clean clothes. They hold me up when I cook and clean up afterwards.  They rest when I use my computer to earn money and fulfill business responsibilities and influence others through my writing. And they take me to bed each night when my my day's work is finished. My feet carry me through the events of my life, and my faith determines their path and gives it meaning as I travel toward my eternal home.

My feet have been very busy this past week!  They have fallen in w/ the footsteps of visitors and summer students on various college campuses, warmed themselves in the sand by San Francisco Bay, gripped the deck of a sailboat, tapped along with the music, cooled themsemselves in the thick green grass while chasing laughing toddlers, flashed pretty nails in fashionable sandals, and steadily held the accelerator at (or just above) the speed limit for a nine hour road trip. Soon they will be soaking in a soothing bath and snuggling under the cool sheets of a familiar bed. You guys are awesome!!! smile
