I have a 2000 Grand Jeep Cherokee with the inline 6. I replaced the water pump, and it still gets
Over 210 degrees when in stop and go conditions. Plus my heater is barley working at all. Any suggestions???
Some possibilities:
Typical Diagnostic Tests:
Check Belts and Hoses
Visually inspect exterior Radiator rods for leakage (Corroded Fins by coolant - will appear like green stains) Inspect interior for corrosion blockage of fins
Radiator Flow (Check flow for blockage & check thermostat opening operation)
Fan operation (Possible failure Temp sensor / Fuse / Fan motor)
Check for all leaks (Pressure test system)
Radiator cap not holding pressure - Test
Combustion leak (Block check system)
Preventative maintenance measure w/ water pump replacement is to replace thermostat (To test means removing, so go ahead and replace)
Coolant measures:
System needs to be flushed?
Coolant 50/50 Mix with water
System needs to be purged of air
Coolant level
I hope this helps
