Why do you think people speed? Is it just the excitement or is it something else?
I think it's because they are in a hurry. I also notice that once you get used to a certain speed, it doesn't seem so fast, so there is a tendency to keep going a little faster the longer you drive (like consecutive hours, not years).
speed limits are too slow in most places. in residential areas they are good but on highways they are lower then need be.
