Smog is smoke and fog combined. The term comes from London originally in reference to the thick fog polluted by coal smoke. So basically, Smog is any combination of fog and a pollutant, such as, smoke.
Smog is simply a type of air pollution, and the word was coined from the words smoke and fog.

I have never been a smoker, nor a drunk (alcoholic), so I don't know what it's like. But I find it interesting that some can quit "just like that", and others never can. Still others battle with off, and on,...
