Although I don't think that you should leave building your presence online strictly to blogging, it does help. People get to know you that way and appreciate the amount of time, effort, and knowledge that you put into your blogs. There are many different people out there with all different levels of knowledge in online business (or the Internet in general). Everyone knows what blogging is, but not everyone understands "directory submission". Those who are more advanced will acknowledge and appreciate the articles, but those who are in their first few steps will enjoy and not feel overwhelmed by simple blogs. Therefore, I believe that both means of campaigning are crucial in building a successful business.
